| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- well, i liked the first episode as far as animation goes, since i wasn't able to understand much from what they were saying D: and i'll need to rewatch this when subs come out... aah, my japanese needs more practice. anyway, i like the idea behind this show. it's interesting and original. the animation is very good. what i didn't like were the female characters. come on, what's wrong with character designers?! either they make the characters anorectic (most of series with Nabari no Ou from this season) or obese. come on, you can't call that any other way, they don't look average to me and i found them a little repulsive to watch, especially minamo looked like a piglet. and i don't mean a cute one. and there was a fanservice pantyshot, so i guess it's kinda targeted at people who like girls looking like that. imho she would've look a lot better a little thinner... <img src="http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08153/minamo614.jpg" border="0"> <img src="http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08153/holon990.jpg" border="0"> like this maybe? err... anyway i'm looking forward to the subs and the next episode.. oh and a little comparison with a character from nabari no ou. made it for teh lulz ^^ <img src="http://xs226.xs.to/xs226/08153/madness837.jpg" border="0"> |

| i don't really think fanservice suits a series like this. i don't recall any fanservice in Production I.G.'s other big series like Ghost Hound or Seirei no Moribito.. |
| That was an interesting first episode, and so far I like the story. I was quite surprised at the twist nearly the end of the episode. That was a nice parallel with the japanese legend of Urashima Taro. And the animation was very good! :D |
| This series seems fairly interesting and the animation looks nice. Well anyways it was a good first episode, the scene with that guy getting his arm rung out by the cable was pretty brutal although he didn't even seem to feel it lol And yeah I agree with ephemeralM, those girls did seem pretty thick or I guess..voluptuous lol Oh yeah and the old naked guy at the end was really GAR! |

| It was pretty good, the plot was interesting and unique, and the characters are actually compelling and make me want to watch more. And on top of all that they get an automatic "best ending of the season" simply for hiring Last Alliance. Not that the song itself isn't amazing anyway. |

| Im excited, just from the first episode, I can tell Im gonna like this anime. :D This is gonna be really good, I can tell. <3 Intuition.. >.> <.< The ending was a bit confusing though, where he was all underwater.. Luv the ending theme! :DDD Can't wait for the next ep. ^^ |

| The first episode was weird. But I like it very much. The plot seems to have tons of potential and I like the animation and the characters. It's interesting to see an old man as main character and the whole diving into cyberspace idea, seems to be very good. One of the few new animeshows that I really like. Now I need only Kaiba, and everything is perfect xD |

| i also think the plot has a lot of potential, but to be honest.... the arm shredding to pieces kinda caught me off guard... not that I hate blood, but it was just at such a random time... aside from that, not bad start, but to be honest, I have no clue what this series is about from the first ep... we'll see though... |

| Loved it - Very good animation. The fight scene on the pier had a good frame rate. They spent some money. I havin't pickked my season favorites, but this just shot to the top of the canidates |

| was there fanservice really? i must have missed it because i only caught it once. why do all the girls look the same....are they all clones/cyborgs? the plot seems pretty good but what i dont understand is how 1. the scientist still looks decently young, whereas his diver friend is an old fart. 2. the scientist had his arm pretty much destroyed by a cable yet it is functioning 50 years later but the diver can't walk. |

| i didn't expect this one to be this good.. the charecters are a bit faty.. specially the girls <_< and i felt sick when i saw the old man naked.. gross :s but over all i liked the anime..and didn't feel the time passing while watching.. just why there is only one ep per week? geeh >o< |

| I liked! Could have definately done without the weird fanservice, though... old man nudity was definately GAR, the faties are...well....its new for me and i dont mind it really...i find it a bit more realistic than stick figure animes....but it seems....exentuated... like, noticeable... they could be more subtle about it LIKE, BY EXCLUDING FAN SERVICE, OR SOMTHING.. but the story is definately interesting, so far Rope scene made me cringe alot in terms of best anime? i'm more for Persona Trinity Soul or Mnemosyne....This is good, but thats just the first episode so far... it is interesting |

| Very confusing first episode, but other than that the story seemed pretty interesting, even though it was hard to follow at times. Hopefully the second episode will shed a little light on what's going on :P |

| I think it will be a good story after all. And i liked the character design because it looks more natural then the usual fanservice. It simply fits the mood of this type of story. ;-) By the way: That girls dont look ugly. They look some kind of normal (just normal) to me. |

| Guys are always in for the slim girls eh? Well, that's guys alright. ^_^ Somehow, the first episode didn't quite establish the plot. I've no qualms about the animation as it's simply superb, but it's quite "shaky" yet with what the story is all about. Yeah, it's the first episode, but it should've been able to plant the "foundations" of the story. So far, they left quite a lot of empty terms as far as the first episode went. Another thing that throws me off is the fanservice. Seriously, it doesn't exactly fit this anime - not this type. These big-boobed chubby girls sure have potential of ruining a good sci-fi show. I'll still be watching this though and hope it gets better. |

I DO get out a lot (it's called making a living) and yes, I see a lot of chunky/chubby women; but then I live in the UK where eating habits of the general public aren't exactly too healthy. For the most part I didn't see this in Japan nor on my travels through much of Asia, so no, I doubt very much the decision for chunky girls here was anything other than an artistic preference. Perhaps the animators have a thing for weightier chicks. Whatever... |

| I guess I'm giving this a chance until the second episode and see if the plot develops better and if the fanservice continues on. Hopefully not or this would really suck. EDIT: Changed my mind. Dropped. :p |

| I found this rather weird - not used to seeing tubby girls in anime, could turn out quite well. Then again, it could not. Animation's nice. Fanservice doesn't really bother me, unless it's all fanservice and nothing else which this clearly isn't. |

When I saw the first girl I was thinking "eh one fat legged girl is fine" then after that it seemed like every girl had huge legs lol. They need to add some diversity in here. They cant all have the same body shape XD. I'm liking this series. It's a bit confusing but it's got that cyberpunk Ghost in the Shell feel when that guy dives into the meta net. |
