Is there meaning behind it? I don't get it. It sounds like a title a 14 year old edgelord would come up with. "Darker than Black" cringe
Genocyber is a masterpiece everyone has to experience.

Please do me a favor and watch Genocyber.

It's a good title. It's an amusing fit and very memorable. Black is very much the colour of the show in plenty of ways. Hei is called the Black Reaper for a start lol. Definitely sticks with me more than a lot of other titles.

The original japanese title is just the English words but able to be pronounced with katakana (Daaka Zan Burakku). So the author probably made up the phrase in Japanese (where maybe it sounds better), but then thought it sounded cool said in English.

And genocyber sounds like something a genius would come up with right? The only edgy thing I see is your post. Talk about something a 14 year old would do.

Well, the title is referenced at least twice in the anime, so that should provide some insight into why it was chosen.

“The light in our hearts is even darker than black.” - Yin

The title is a metaphor if that somehow confused you.

Great show.

There doesn't have to be a meaning behind every name of an anime. And if you watched through it carefully you'd be able to see that they're atleast seven references to it and was used as a metaphor most likely to the personality of Hei and the other contractors.

That's just how titles were in the 2000s lol. I remember digging this but it IS a little of that era edgy if I remember correctly.
