I'm actually on episode 6 of it and kazuki does explain more but I still think she didn't have to stay there. Is more explained after episode 6?

Actually I realise now kazuki is probably smart enough to realise that if anmane successfully finds help then the rescuers will then come back to the original location as well

I watched Grisaia was l the only one or were the backstories of all characters a bit too messed up at times.

Just finish it and you understand and if you want to know more just play it's visual novel.

They actually were messed up. I started this thinking "ah yes, another harem anime* then the backstories started popping up and turned it into a horror anime like wtf.
