THIS IS A LIGHT NOVEL ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS VOLUME.
----------------------------------------
After rumors of an alleged kiss between Keita and Aguri spread, Karen and Tasuku team up to find the culprit. Meanwhile, Keita and Aguri meet at the family restaurant to discuss an incident involving them, when suddenly Chiaki arrives and joins the conversation.

For a long time, Chiaki hide her true identity from Keita, because she didn't want to interfere with her relationship with Karen. However, now everything has changed, as she is determined to admit what she really feels.

Therefore, Chiaki looks for a chance to be alone with Keita. And when she finally succeeds, she confesses her feelings to him and also tells him that she is 'Mono' and 'Nobe'. The two of them were under the starry sky, and Chiaki was smiling as she shared a beautiful moment beside the one she loved.

Faced with such a situation, Keita didn't know what to answer, because the confession came suddenly. But then he tried to calm down. And when he finally made up his mind, he told Chiaki he couldn't reciprocate his feelings. Awww this so hurt, broken heart.

Despite the sad situation, Chiaki smiled and told Keita that she was fine and she understood, because after all, Keita already has a girlfriend. She apologizes for making him uncomfortable, but at the same time she mentions that she is now more comfortable with her current self.

After that, Chiaki and Keita went to find Karen to tell her what had happened between them, because they didn't want any more misunderstandings. However, Karen suddenly avoided them.

As time went on, misunderstandings increased. Until one day, it was all over. Unexpectedly, Tasuku broke up with Aguri, but it didn't really end, they started all over again.

On the other situation, Karen also ended her relationship, but in her case, it was certain, because she knew that Keita was dating her only because of a misunderstanding. This way, everything starts all over again. Now there are no more misunderstandings... or so it seems.

One day, Keita is talking to Konoha, who has now become his love advisor, and tells him that he still loves Karen. However, and unexpectedly, he realized that he also had feelings for Chiaki, who was behind him and could hear his confession.

A few days later, Chiaki is dating Keita (thanks to Konoha's intervention). And while the two of them are dating, Karen finds them and challenges Chiaki to a game competition, where the winner will get Keita. But in the end, nothing happened.

After that, Keita and Aguri decided not to see each other again until they returned to their respective couple, as they didn't want to cause any more misunderstandings. However, one day, Aguri calls Keita and asks him to pretend to be his girlfriend in front of all of them.

At first, Keita didn't want to accept, but because of Aguri's insistence, he finally agreed. The situation was very complicated for Keita, as he had no idea how Tasuku would react. However, fortunately, Tasuku understood what was going on. So when the two met at school, Tasuku want to tahnks to him for helping Aguri.

slowly but surely, Tasuku and Aguri's relationship is getting stronger. Now only a few misunderstandings remain. And while they were both enjoying the good times they had, on the other hand, Chiaki decided to act.

In this way, and shortly after Valentine's Day ended, Chiaki gathered her courage and finally kissed Keita. At that moment on the scene there was Karen, who was shocked.

After the sudden kiss, Karen becomes even more determined to fight for Keita's love. She will now face it with all she has. So she invites Chiaki to her house for a competition, where the winner will get Keita.

In the end, Keita chooses who he will be with. And although it was a very difficult decision at first, he later realized that there was only one main heroine for him. In this way, he asks Karen to be his girlfriend, which Karen happily accepts.

Faced with such a situation, Chiaki accepted her defeat with a smile. And even though she knew what she was getting into, she had no regrets.

Now that Keita and Aguri have returned to their respective partners, they are finally able to meet at the family restaurant, where they make a vow of friendship, albeit more like a confession of love, which is again misinterpreted by Karen and Tasuku.

A few days later, Keita met with Konoha to help her to find a video game. And as they search, Konoha begins to feel a little depressed, because she knows that she has little chance that Keita will love her back. However, she later tells herself that she doesn't want to lose to Karen and will do everything she can to get Keita to notice her.

However, Keita's feelings for Karen were too strong. He's already made up his mind. And no matter how, he didn't want to let go again, because he knew that she (Karen) was his main heroine from the first time he saw Karen.

And in the same way, Karen also felt the same about Keita. Now the two of them will write a new story together.

Keita & Karen go on a date, on the Ferris wheel Keita gently and deeply kisses Karen. Karen replied back and wanted to go even further with Keita.

They are already committed to getting married and want to have a child

Man, I totally regret reading this series. It was my bad I guess, but I really thought it was trying to satirize your typical anime/LN plots, but instead it ran headlong into them -- and took about 8 volumes longer than it needed to do so. Volume 3 to Volume 11 was, in terms of the final plot, a large, meandering circle that ultimately drops us back off to where we already were long before with no changes. And literally, does Volume 12 even have a point beyond fluff? Well, I suppose it does abruptly throw Amano/Aguri's relationship in the garbage bin in the closing paragraphs, which is... not nothing.

But for most of the series, I perceived Tendo as like a parody of main girls -- elegant, beautiful, beloved by all, walks into the MC's life and jumpstarts the plot, quickly falls head over heels for him, has a bunch of cutesy mannerisms... but underneath it all, you can see that she's self-righteous, arrogant, completely batshit insane, and their relationship never makes any sense ("You did something? OH MY GOD YOU'RE THE ABSOLUTE BEST EVER THAT'S WHY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!<3!<3!<3!" even though often the things happening seem like they should be distinct contrasts between the two, like their approach video games). So it felt like the two of them were either forcing it, or it was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that the main couple in trash novels will just grow closer and closer come hell or high water, no matter how specious the development is. Ultimately, they're basically the exact same couple from when they start dating as they are at the very end -- any development is inferred. I really thought that the point behind that was going to be, 'alright, that's how an anime waifu would act, now let's contrast that with the relationship that's been growing under our noses for the entire series between the two characters who are always hanging out and talking with each other and naturally growing closer in this way'. And then -- JK, Tendo's the waifu who's the focus of most of the art (and presumably pushing sales), of course she gets the guy. I am just so put off with Japanese waifu culture right now.

I've got a lot more I could say (like, the apparent emotional blackmail Tendo and Uehara are trying to inflict by breaking up -- basically, "I'm breaking up with you even though you've done nothing wrong. I still love you and we'll get back together later, so if you could just stay emotionally attached to me and make sure you undermine your other relationships while we're not dating for several months, that'd be great, thanks!")(or the dozens of credible cheating actions that go absolutely nowhere and are never ever properly addressed)... but that's a whole other kettle of fish, and I think they all relate back to forcing the central romance anyway. I gave it a 3/10. It had some great aspects to it, and was very funny at times, but it's safe to say that this is the most I've ever tanked a score for having a shitty ending that seems to undermine the entire body of work. Also, thanks to the translator(s?) who made it possible to read this entire disappointing series.

P.S. Actually, I'm gonna go full cope. Volume 1 ends with Amano saying that he and Aguri wouldn't realize the effects of their alliance until their high school days were over (and it's safe to say that it didn't help them at all with their relationships with Tendo/Uehara -- in fact, it put them in danger multiple times). Volume 12's afterword says something about imagining the characters' futures. Therefore, I conclude that the "Game of Life" they played was foreshadowing, the couples break up in their last year of high school, Amano and Aguri get together after graduation, and 75% of the plot doesn't go to waste. The end, suck it.
