This chapter provides a glimpse of the sibling's bond back when they were just children. Although they were close then, their relationship today has grown distant and the brother may even appear cold towards his sister to outsiders.

In the flashback, we see that the brother used to braid his sister's hair. Recall in Chapter 1 that upon waking up from a drug induced sleep, the girlfriend was confused when she found a braid in her hair. The parallels imply that the brother is using his girlfriend as a substitute for his sister.
