I think it's real. I mean I tried to make the steak soma did in the shokugeki against mito and the meat indeed was softer, but maybe I imagined it who knows

Yes, everything they do is applicable to the real world culinary scene. For example, onions do actually contain an enzyme that break down proteins so if you cover a steak in them, it will be more tender.

The author worked with a professional chef who came up with all the recipes, so yes, they are all possible (at least until the last arc, when the chef was on maternity leave, which is a big reason why the series got so ridiculous at that point)

All of the recipes that they use in food wars are real, and although a bit exaggerated, the techniques are too

I saw a few videos of chefs talking about it. Overall, they said that the tips and tricks are real but the time frames don't always line up. Like the potato roast Soma made in the first episode. It's possible and the recipe works but it would take a much longer time to cook it then it did in the show. Which otherwise isn't a big deal, but since it was supposed to be time sensitive, it makes sense to bring up.

Yeah, the techniques are real. At least till the last or the last two seasons. I think that’s why they have a much lower score. But I think you’ll be able to tell when you get there.

I would take most things that seem outlandish with a grain of salt(Season 5). But most things that are explained especially in Seasons 1-4 is real and does work. The authors did have a chef helping them with the cooking side of it.

They are real recipes , and the detailed instructions of the recipe are written in the manga .

Yes, there are several videos out there recreating the dishes using the same methods, however the show definitely exaggerates how well it works.

I mean it would be easier to actually come up genuine cooking techniques rather than coming up with random shit that won’t even make sense

the first 2-3 seasons are legit for the most part. last 2 season aren't. in the volumes of manga there are the actual recipes so you could probably just look them up

I saw something on that same dish and it was that you shouldn't put it directly on the pan, you should put it on a rack on the pan so that it doesn't sit in it's own juices
