I haven't fully watch HxH but I've been seeing a lot of similar arcs and character from naruto like hisoka and orochimaru, sasuke and kurapika, hxh exam And chunin exam, taking back sasuke and taking back killua (not sure what was the name of the arcs), i actually don't mind that im seeing something similar from another anime

I just want to know did Kishimoto copied some of Togashi's work cause naruto one shot came out of 1997 while hxh came out of 1998 the naruto manga came out in 1999

Sasuke and Kurpika are very similar so yes I guess you can say both are great series though.

The thing is that Kishimoto is heavily inspired by Togashi work , I mean that's pretty obvious since there are a lot of similarities between them. Here are some examples
Phantom Troupe- Akatsuki
Illumi and killua relationship- just like Sasuke and Itachi
Kurapica eyes- Sharingan
Hisoka-Orichimaru
Biske(powerful, looks young but old)- Tsunade
Uchiha Clan-kuruta Clan
Chunin Exam-Hunter Exam

I don't think kishimoto copied togaski but there are many points in naruto that was influenced from HxH.

Kishimotos favorite author is supposedly Togashi from what I've heard and he was heavily influenced by hxh

Copying is a bad word for this. I would say it’s obvious that Togashi was an inspiration for many themes of Naruto, but they do different things and are not meant to be a copy.

Yes he was inspired by Togashi. He even said it in an interview between both authors

Copied is a strong word for it, took inspiration would be better, and nothing wrong with taking inspiration from things. Most of the things in this world are inspired by something.

He took a lot of inspiration from all sorts of places, be it character arcs, designs or whatever. What he ended up with was pretty decent so no one's complaining.

He’s very influenced by his work. Just to look at a single character, he even said that Sasuke’s design was based off of Hiei. Kurapika’s eyes and Killua’s personality also seemed to inspire some key traits of Sasuke too.

I think they were just common concepts in shounen at the time. Tournament arcs existed before then, two MC rivals existed as well. I doubt they both had much time to be inspired off of each other considering how close together the naruto and hxh mangas began being published

HxH is also influenced by Yu Yu Hakucho, from the same author. And both are surely influenced by Dragon Ball. Being influenced by previous works is natural. It doesnt mean anything about the anime itself.

I would say that it's more inspired than anything rather than straight up "copied"

i think that his work is just inspired by it. kurapika vs sasuke, and also the whole childish yet dark theme of the show. Also, there is one character from naruto that was the spitting image of one of the three brothers from the hunter exams in hxh.

Most of the similarities are evident but Hisoka - Orochimaru? That seems too much of a stretch...

Anyway, yeah he was inspired by Togashi's work. The main difference however, is that Kishimoto actually bothered to finish his story in a coherent and satisfying way, while Togashi sadly, did not.

Why is it so difficult to understand the difference between simple terms like "Inspired" and "Copied"?

When you realise Naruto started after HxH and ended with 700 chapters, but HxH is yet to be finished. This kinda hurts ngl.

As for the post, Kishimoto got inspired by HxH to create Naruto.
