The Ending!? (SPOILERS)

Somehow just finished Ex-Arm and I have no idea what happened in the end, I have not read the manga but to me it felt insanely rushed. My main curiosity is whether or not Akira actually died in the end, I tried looking it up on google but I guess Ex-Arm is so irrelevant that I couldn't find out. I'm pretty sure he died after the nuke hit but what confused me was the scene at the end with Minami riding in her car with who I'm guessing to be Akira in his little eyeball form? Would appreciate if someone could clear this up.

The entire plot was so stupid that I didn't really question it to be honest, but it looks like he is alive, yes.

Love how you didn't get an answer and also I would reccomend you to read the manga as it might clear things and the anime wasn't faithful at all

He should have died and was prepared to, but it's implied he survived.

I have a feeling it's better explained in the manga. However, not all chapters have been translated yet, so it's going to take a long while.
