| I just wish CGI in anime wasn't made to look like it's in 8 fps. 2D animation skip frames and stretch out proportions to make incredible scenes with limited frames to work with when 3D animation usually has keyframes and the transition between them results in a choppy mess. I'm kind of allergic to CGI intermixed with 2D animation but I think it works well when everything is CGI like in Beastars or even Kengan Ashura. I just don't like how plastic and lifeless the Beast Titan looks in this season and it's a daunting shift from what we're used to even if the CGI is technically not bad. Most people really don't seem to mind it though which makes me question why it makes me so disappointed. |

Is Hayashi handling it a good thing ? storyboards are very important its a rough sketch like stick figure drawings with labels on how to draw and animate each scenes and i guess even sounds are part of that instructions most storyboards are done by the director himself anyway but there are times there is a dedicated storyboard maker other than the director |

CGI is for blending in and being unnoticeable but the way it was used in this season left it sticking out like a sore thumb, it's distracting and by extension detracting. If you are going to make it noticeable try to, at the very least, make it cool and memorable (like in the footage you shared) I don't know exactly how long they spent on this season but they definitely should have had enough time to pull off something higher quality but instead what we get is a stiff models, poor mesh deformations and stiff hair simulations... If Arc System Works can make a game that's gorgeous and feels thematically in-line with an anime then there's no reason a bunch of people who make anime shouldn't be able to make CG look anime |
MAPPA had approximately 8 months to work on this entire season. The Levi vs beast titan scene which lasted a little over a minute took 4 months to animate. |

Also they most likely can make better cg but thats not the hard thing. the hard thing is to make it look good in the anime. The cgi you sent would not look good in aot even tho its amazing and well made. Also thats a movie, so that means more time to produce and most likely bigger budget. |
