Picking up the manga after watching the anime

Since not all manga/ light novels are completely adapted into anime format, one would naturally start reading them from where the anime stopped. However, when adding the manga/light novel to your list, there is no way to show that you only read the chapters that come after the adapted ones. And thus it is displayed that you read the whole thing.
My suggestion is to add an option where the user claims that he picked up the source material from where the anime stopped, and that he did not read the chapters/volumes that came before that point.

That'd be kinda cool but I just mention it in the more info comments.
I doubt they'll accept this with how picky they seem to be for the difficult workload it is to manage MAL as it is.

Plus it's not "necessary".

I still think reading from the beginning is preferable. Even if you've already seen the anime version, there may be adaptation differences (skipping/adding stuff, among other changes) and the experience itself would be different due to the change in medium.
