I want to get into the Steins;Gate franchise. Where do I start?

I really want to get into this series. I can see that there are several anime and games.

In what order should I watch the anime and play the games?

If I were to start at the anime start at Steins;Gate, then proceed to watch the second ending to the original Steins;Gate. After you see put ending you can watch Steins;Gate 0. At that point you could watch the movie and all of the ova because you will understand all of the main story. Happy watching:)

You can start with either the VN or the Anime, it doesn't matter. Personally I recommend to start with the anime because it's a faster watch and is a pretty darn good adaptation as well (not to mention, one of the best animes around, period), the VN will take a long time to finish and you have to read a lot so if VN isn't your thing then you can skip the VN completely, you'll be completely satisfied with the anime anyways.

So I recommend to start with the anime with this watching order:

Steins;Gate 01-24 > Steins;Gate Ova 25 > Steins;Gate Movie (The Movie is non-canon but it's still pretty enjoyable)

Afterwards you can play the VN to see the other good stuff that the anime didn't included.

After you finish the anime and the VN you can start with Steins;Gate 0 but I don't recommend the anime though because it's a pretty mediocre adaptation so go for the VN first on this one.

If you don't want to start with the VN then watch the anime in this order:

Steins;Gate Ova 23beta > Steins;Gate 0 01-23 > Steins;Gate 0 Ova

Just watch the first anime or play the visual novel. Then watch Zero, or play that visual novel. It isn't a big mystery.

There are basically 2 orders. The one I recommend the most is by date of airing. it goes like this:

1. Steins;Gate s1
2. Steins;Gate OVA egoistic poriomania ( optional)
3. Steins;Gate Movie fuka ryouiki deja vu (optional, but recommended)
4. Steins;Gate OVA: kyoukaimenjou no missing link or s1 ep 23 beta
5. Steins;Gate0

poriomania and movie, as optionals, can be skipped and watched later so you can go for missing link and the steins gate 0

Now, if you want to go "chronological", as xyzematt said:

1. Steins;Gate s1 till ep 22 only
2. Steins;Gate OVA: kyoukaimenjou no missing link or s1 ep 23 beta. This will lead you into Steins;Gate0 story
3. Steins;Gate0
4. Back to Steins;Gate s1 ep 23+24
5. Steins;Gate OVA egoistic poriomania
6. Steins;Gate Movie fuka ryouiki deja vu

I haven´t played the VN. As far as i know, the VN include some other routes. you might check them out after finishing SG anime. nevertheless, the first SG is fantastic so you are good with the adaptations.

And if you end liking the anime and want similar stuff, I have some recommedations:

- Madoka
- Erased
- Qualia the purple (manga)
- Parallel Paradise (manga)
- All you need is kill (manga)
- Yu- NO (1996 visual novel) : this one inspired Steins gate. it has a modern adaptation, but it average at best.

For Zero, it is better to play the VN first, since the anime is not really an adaptation of it, it is rather the continuation of it in term of worldline iteration chronology.
