Preferably a finished story, but if it's unfinished and you want to recommend it then recommend it.

I'm seeking stories where the main protagonist starts off weak (or normal) and then eventually gains power and becomes competent or even amongst the strongest in the world. Huge plus if their reason for wanting to gain power is because they're hurt and they want the power to obtain revenge.

Mushoku Tensei, Arifureta, Shield Hero, and Sevens. Light novel, web novel, hell even if you find a manga that's similar. As long as you think it's good and we see the characters [who are preferably hurt and hate everything] put in the effort to better themselves and have opportunities to show the results of their progress then your suggestion is helpful.

Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help.

Rosario+Vampire although he doesn't start to get stronger until about halfway through the original run. Season II is more focused in the plot and action stuff, but the original does set up for it and become more plot/action focused after the first few volumes of episodic harem comedy.

Kurogane no Linebarrel

Spider-Man and I'm not kidding. This is a darkass alternate take on the webslinger that's set in Japan and portrays a version of Spiderman that didn't have an Uncle Ben figure to tell him what comes with great power.

I guess Break Blade kinda in a way. It's set in a world where people can use magic to manipulate quartz, but the MC is the only person who can't use magic. This turns out to be his greatest strength, when his inability to use magic makes him the only person capable of piloting a powerful ancient machine, and the story follows his journey through the military. It's currently ongoing but there's around 90 chapters so far so you have a decent amount to read before catching up.

Holyland
The Breaker
World Embryo

Murasakiiro no Qualia - a bit different genre-wise but strangely enough it fits I guess
