| Hi, Couple weeks ago, I've re-watched Season 1 and Season 2 of the Monogatari Series (never watched Tsukimonogatari onwards, so I'm working on it right now)... And by chance, this limited edition box just popped out on my local library store. It's brand new, so it's quite expensive (556,00 BRL, should be around 133,00 USD). I really enjoyed the TV show, so is it worth to read the novels as well? Thanks. |
| The anime Bluray/DVD industry sells at stupidly high prices since they know that only the most hardcore of hardcore fans will (consistently) buy it which is how they are still around. If you consider yourself one of those then by all means. |

| I've read Kizu and Bake and thought they were great reads. If you like the anime, then you'll most likely enjoy the novels. I didn't know the price of the box set increased that much, though. It was like $70 when it came out. |

Is the novel better than the anime in any way?" |
| The novels are absolute masterpiece. It's also worth even if you've already seen the anime since there are differences (some 4th wall breaking that can be done only with books etc.). I might have even enjoyed the novel slightly more than the anime (I've read up to Nekomonogatari (White) so far). If you liked the series, I'd certainly recommend the novel, nisioisin's writing is top quality. The price of the box set is either same or lower than the separate books but you get a cool box as a bonus. In fact, if you've found the first box set you should pick it up, since it's limited and it's actually not available any more in lot of stores (out of print on both amazon and bookdepository). |
