Blood-C has a strong female Protagonist, although I didn´t enjoy the Anime, maybe you do >\\<

Black Lagoon is the first one to come to mind. Every single member of the female cast could put you in a coffin. Not to mention the show just being very entertaining to watch. The dub is also one of the few dubs that is REALLY good.

If you are going to watch Black Lagoon, then consider Jormungand as well.
Not the same genre but if your criteria is just a strong female lead then Hanasaku Iroha is also good.
