| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I really liked this conceptually. As for specifics episodes changed tone so often it felt as if they were out of order. I appreciated the comedy when it was there. Characters were okay, but I would have liked more interaction, something more personal. The last 7 episodes were handled pretty consistently. Also, it could have done without the villainesses losing everything interesting about them and giving everything up for their pretty boy, but that's shoujo for you. 'My Prince' too, but whatever. At least they told Crane to fuck off, not sure why anyone would care what he has to say anyway. |
| Not that bad for an old anime the song is good too and the character not that bad and thanks god that freak prince gone but It is deeply regretted that his ass being kicked not made in the plot and I don't understand why can I see that PATA pi doll as a cute doll now |
| As I expected, it is sadly a very mediocre anime. However, due to personal reasons, I've kinda grown attached to it because it was the first anime I watched in Japanese when I was discovering the medium. The animation is honestly quite bad and some episodes, like the ones focusing almost entirely on the villain trio are atrocious. But the main cast is honestly quite great, especially Suzume. Which helped me get through it much easily. I liked the story a lot but the ending felt like it resolved things too easily. Crane being evil but then having a change of heart in the last second felt too sudden and the fact that there's barely any action in a mecha/magical girl final battle was disappointing. But it was overall OK. It's also quite sad that they teased a proper sequel with Shooting Star's scene on that train with the sixth Anima Mundi but that never got anywhere. I suppose this show just wasn't very popular at the time and it was not financially viable to keep it going beyond the movie, which I think doesn't continue with the train scene tease. But well, this is a huge weight off my chest after 25+ years watching anime. I honestly would have loved to find at least a diamond in the rough but the reality is that it's OK at best and very mediocre at worst. If you're interested in mecha and magical girls from the late 90s, there are way better options like Card Captor Sakura, GaoGaiGar, etc. |
