I really hope Kindaichi returns but hope they make it more like season 1. In seasons 2 and 3 it felt to me as though they tried to "modernize" Kindaichi too much perhaps in order to make it appeal to modern fans (and maybe to compete with other anime in the same genre). However, I always felt as though season 1 was truly special in the way they tried to make the cases and perpetrators more humane, if that makes any sense. Episodes with Shigure (the young girl who died at the end) and Amakusa Shirou (the guy who buried the treasure for Kindaichi to give it to a sick girl dressed as Santa) come to mind. There was certainly more depth and "love" for the characters, main and supporting.
