so an anime/manga where mc kills innocent people for his purpose and selfishness
yeah an anti hero
some examples may be light(death note) lelouch(code geass) and hellsing and don't remeber
any rec guys

Anti-hero's can kill "for the greater good" like CynaideTensa says. Examples: Archer from Fate/Stay Night, Kiritsugu Emiya from Fate/Zero, Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion, ...

they kill a few innocent people in overlord, not to mention the MC is pretty OP and basically like the demon lord

Darker than Black also seems to fit -MC works as an assassin.

If random soldiers and guards can count as "innocent" then Drifters -the MCs by definition are OP killers with quite a bit of bloodlust.

I second this, its also a classic manga. incredible thriller.

Wow, I totally missed that I left out the "a" in "Johan." That's his name, not "John."
