Before I start watching Code Geass, I want to know how good R2 is compared to the original. Is it better or worse?

It's way better because I didn't liked CG until I watched whole through season 2. Have fun watching!

If I had to choose I would say I enjoyed R1 a tiny bit more than R2 but R2 had a better ending. R1 and R2 are pretty much just as good as each other.

@SivL
R2 is pure cancer in my opinion: it had terrible writing and pacing, while R1 had something precise, polished, especially in the action scenes.

Same overated crap. Decent show but way too overated. It magnifies the suspension of belief on how dumb a character can get.

R2 was definitely better. It had way more and even better plot twists than in R1 and way more epic moments.

It was a lot more chaotic that's for sure. If you can suspend your disbelief a bit then you'll be taken for a wild exciting ride.

Why do you want to know how good the second season is if you haven't started the first?

Its a complete trainwreck, very entertaining but overall just dumb (way more than the first season already).

The ending is great though

R1 was quite bad so I'm not in a rush to see R2 yet

R1 was better as the beginning of R2 is crap as it basically resets a bunch of stuff that happened in R1 and uses a bunch of the time to bring it back.

Comedy was more forced this time, same with the amount of plot twists that occur.

Almost every episode ends on some sort of twist, and most of them are straight up deus ex machina for both sides.

The ending was good, and redeemed the show a little, but the amount of faction switching and characters changing their minds was dumb, as they pretty much lost what ideologies and relationships they built up in R1 in order to progress the plot even more.

It's much better. Better animation, better characters, more impressive moments and much better ending.
