Of all the things I've never imagined of this. Original was my childhood favourite. Anyone knows who gonna produce this one?

I hope it's full reboot, as the old one changed pretty much source material.

I guess you are expecting more than 26 episodes? (despite how unlikely it seems)

@tomateunmate Plenty more characters are introduced/recruited on paper, actually. ^^" And you have various moments made of a series of fights between those characters and the opponents cast (who's as large as the "good" side)

On the first or second half? There was a huge tone shift, but I always liked more what happens once they drop the sort of generic recruiting team part.

Holy crap is this real life? I watched Soul Hunter when I was in middle school and now it is getting a remake, nostalgia is one hell of a drug and this will probably be my next dose anime-wise

I still can barely believe this is happening. 'Grateful' and 'hyped beyond belief' wouldn't even begin to cover what I'm feeling.

Omg what a time to be alive! I even own the old VHS so this is great news!
Trying to watch all available anime series so you won't have to anymore, the list of anime I can recommend is still in progress, tho

Same here I was watching it when I was kid, that was in 2001...Damn. I even recently thought about this title to rewatch it and BAM! today we have news about remake.
It feels like God read my thoughts and decided to do remake.
I hope they don't f***ed it and give us wonderful adaptation and "return" to childhood times - Even if the old version was different from manga then, anyway as you can see I have a very huge sentiment towards it (even now). And hope that remake will be even better.

I can't say how happy I am for this, but, it seems, for a different reason than most people here.
The fact is, the manga was beautiful and with a fantastic story, I love it.
The old anime, Soul Hunter, was pure shit. For the simple reason that they replaced the fantastic story from the manga with a completely different and super stupid story where some of the good guys were reimplemented as the bad guys with no apparent reason or motivation. The story of the manga was super inspiring, and the one of the anime was incredibly plain instead. So I really hope they redo it everything and give the manga what it deserves.

Never read the manga and can't say if the olde anime is inferior, but compared to a lot of the 90s anime Soul Hunter has aged pretty well. The production as a whole is pretty decent. And there is a good message in every episode, which is delivered pretty well in comparison to SAO for example, for which a lot of people hate SAO.

Anime has evolved quite a lot in the past 20 years and sometimes I find it really sad that I'm not enjoying old series that were at the top back in the day. Hence I found Soul Hunter to be quite refreshing. If the manga is indeed as good as you're saying, there is a lot of potential for the new series and I can't wait :3

Mine was perhaps a hyperbole, and maybe some secondary aspects of the anime were not that bad.
But as I said, the reason I didn't like it is that the manga had a fantastic and deep story with even fantastic opponents, and as much as I recall (it's been some time), the deepest part of that story has been completely ruined in soul hunter, with good guys changed in bad guys for no reason and bad guys that are evil simply because they're evil. Maybe many anime of that age were like this back then, but the hoshin engi manga was on a whole different level regarding this. So I really hope this time they make it right :)

I think it's going to be MAPPA, they're going to give it the Ushio to Tora treatment, so expect good things.

Uhm, looks weird. Only character design seems in place...

Well, I guess it was impossible to predict C Station. They could do a decent job, but they have another anime for winter 2018, so that's a little bit worrisome.
