Although i am quite new to anime ( have been watching anime for the past 2 years now ) , 2016 was a very good season for me . There were many new shows or sequels that i liked . Some of them are erased , konosuba , netoge , danganronpa 3 , Akagami no Shirayuki-hime and more . Definitely the highlight of the year was re:zero . Also there are at least 10+ shows that i have on the watchlist that i still did not had the time to watch them . ( Most of them are from the current season , since i was watching inuyasha for the past month )

Wasn't the best of all years but it's being a very good year for anime. Up until now, from what I've watched and aside movies (really enjoyed Kizumonogatari and Kimi no nawa), my favorite anime was Handa-kun, which I finished today coincidentally, I really don't get the low rating reviews, it was a great show, liked it a lot.

I also liked a lot of Planetarian, Konosuba and Kiznaiver.

I don't think 2016 anime really stood out in a good or bad way. My favorites that come to mind are BSD (both seasons) and Tanaka-kun is always Listless. I'm really looking forward to this next year though!

2016 is definitely better than 2015

With titles such as Zaregoto, Kizumonogatari, 3gatsu no Lion, Natsume Yuujinchou Go, Kimi no Na wa, Koe no Katachi, ReLIFE, Shouwa Rakugo and more, it has way better lineup than 2015 for sure.

2016 beats 2015 hands down.

This year was rather weak, gem this year is Boku dake ga Inai Machi. Rest that I like - KonoSuba, ReLife and 2nd season of GATE, beacouse i like military and Rory

Keijo is super disappointing, so I only watch it for the plot *-)
but it hurts my brain...

I guess 2016 has been alright. This is my first full year since getting back into anime and becoming a fully-fledged otaku, so for my first year back into the swing of things it's been pretty good and I've had a lot of fun. I've watched tons of older and newer shows but the ones that I enjoyed the most (that were made this year) were:

Anne Happy
Sansha Sanyou
Bakuon!!
New Game
91 Days
Space Patrol Luluco
and Mob Psycho 100

I also enjoyed stuff like Joker Game and Rewrite, but not as much. There were plenty others that I watched, but just not on this list.

The biggest disappointment was the Ace Attorney series. The animation and narrative was such a big letdown that they did absolutely nothing to do the games justice, nor bring in new fans who hadn't previously played the games.

Now some "controversial" things. I didn't care for Kabenari, or Re:Zero, or any of the other shows this year that were considered big in the west. And Haven't You Heard, I'm Sakamoto was absolutely abhorrent. I know everyone just loved it cause it was apparently so god damn funny, but to me Sakamoto was just the biggest douchebag I've ever seen as a protagonist and it shit me to tears.

But despite not being able to remember everything I watched from this year I still enjoyed 2016 in anime (the only aspect of 2016 I enjoyed, to be honest. It helped me escape, I'm not going to get into the long story on why my year was so bad), and I can't wait to see what 2017 offers.

Oh, and before I go, two things.

Pokémon this year was brilliant. AMOURSHIPPING FOR LIFE (WE WON!!!)
And Your Name was the best film I've seen this year, period. If the Academy doesn't give it the Oscar, there's something wrong.

To be honest, I hate to see anime weekly and I cant always watch everything! So the only ones I've watched and I really enjoyed were "Boku dake ga Inai Machi". "Tales of Zestiria the X" and "Haikyuu!! S3"...

As for me this year is just like every year. A handful of good anime with a lot of ok anime and ever now then I find a new favorite amongst them but not this year so far. However I don't see how this year is any different from any other year in anime. (mainly because it's the same)

As for my favorites this year well the anime I liked but are not my favorites would have to be.

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (TV) 2nd Season
Kiznaiver
Haikyuu!! S3
Kimi no Na wa.

And there are more I plan on watching some time. Also I think I have watched 30 anime from this year so far.

2016 wasn't all that great imo, especially after I praised 2014 and 2015 quite a bit. 2016 to me has a lot of shows that are usually good or watchable, but not memorable.
But especially summer was not good. I usually drop only 1 or 2 shows a season... in summer I dropped about 7 or 8. Fall has definitely picked up again though.

My favorites are undeniably Flying Witch, Boku no Hero Academia and Grimgar. Can't wait to get into 2017.

Fanservice can never be overkill. Masou Gakuen HxH and Keijo!!!!!!!! are now the highest tier ecchi shows in existence and they're on my PTW list. So is ViVid Strike! because magical girls MMA is an essential addition to the severe lack of anime dedicated to girls fighting in sports.

If I can say overall, 2016 was a decent year from the titles stance. I don't think it was actually strong compared to 2015 because 2015 had a shit ton of good titles, at least from what I remember, had little complaints around there in that season, this year I had a few fair share of issues, where I guess it lacked more variety for me.

I was deeply disappointed even for some of the titles that came this year (JoJo Part 4 for example as far as I am aware, the first half wasn't that strong and I felt bored throughout at times, the second half picked itself up a bit, did liked it, but then I sensed there's no actual goal to it. Berserk was a disappointment to begin with due to the staff and how they gave it to the wrong people), but then again those are pretty much there. I can't say my favorites for sure so far because I want to wait for the season to end honestly (Fall), but so far excluding sequels, I'd say Grimgar. That show was amazing for me and as a Fantasy fanatic I loved it.

91 Days appealed to me the most. Re:Zero was good for what it could do storywise. Konosuba was funny, although some of the jokes got a bit repetitive. Erased was average and unenjoyable for me.

Boku no Hero was a really fun show, I hope they make a continuation. Shokugeki Season 2 and Haikyuu season 3 was/is a blast. And of course I'm completely invested in Victuri Yuri On Ice.

I haven't seen a lot from this year, so i can't really say if it was an overall good year or not. Erased and Boku no Hero Academia have been my favorites so far. Ajin and Prince of Stride weren't bad. Doukyuusei was also really good if you're into shounen-ai and Dagashi Kashi wasn't all that great, but i loved Saya.

2016 was a shitty year, but 3gatsu no Lion is pretty decent. Shaft didn't go full retard with its style like in Monogatari series, and it has a pretty good depressing/lighthearted contrast (aside from the first episode that is) .

Rakugo too was good, but nothing to remember it for in the long run

The first part had owesome anime like Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu , Gate , Boku dake ga Inai Machi. But to tell the truth the secont part the winter edion or something like that is a little disappointing for me many of them aren't that good or not on my taste... 3-gatsu no Lion is nice and i heard that drifters and bloodivores are nice also but i just tried 1 ep each. xDxD

Still not sure if I'd give AotY to Erased or Re:Zero but either way 2017 should be better. There are already quite a lot of hyped titles on the horizon
