This post is intended to be a place for discussion of the mechs, technology and gundam frames found in MSG: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Below I'll be posting S1 and S2 images of Major Gundam frames.

GUNDAM FRAME

A mobile suit frame constructed during the Calamity War 300 years earlier. It has high output thanks to the installation of two Ahab reactors, but since it is extremely difficult to run these in parallel, only 72 machines based on this Gundam Frame were designed and rolled out.

GUNDAM BARBATOS

One of the Gundam Frames used in the Calamity War 300 years earlier. For a long time, this mobile suit has served as a power source for CGS. When Gjallarhorn attacks, the boys of CGS hastily activate it, and Mikazuki becomes its pilot. Because it has been so long since the Calamity War, its armor has deteriorated, and it can no longer display its original performance. It is armed with a large mace.

GUNDAM BARBATOS (1st FORM)

The condition of the Gundam Barbatos when Maruba Arkay found it in the Martian desert, and repaired it for use as a power source for CGS. Its shoulder frame is exposed, and the armor on its left and right arms looks different.

GUNDAM BARBATOS (2nd FORM)

A form whose shoulders have been reinforced using captured Graze armor. These are colored blue and white because they are coated with the same nanolaminate armor used in the main body. This form is used in combat at the low-orbital station.

GUNDAM BARBATOS (3rd FORM)

A form in which the damaged armor of the left arm has been repaired using a wire claw unit obtained while fighting a Gjallarhorn Schwalbe Graze at the low-orbital station.

GUNDAM BARBATOS (6th FORM)

Barbatos reinforced for the final battle, it is based on the 5th FORM.

GUNDAM BARBATOS LUPUS

The Tekkadan Gundam used by Mikazuki Augus. It has taken on a new form after fighting many battles and being upgraded with Teiwaz technology. All its weapons have also been enhanced. This is one of the Gundam Frames used in the Calamity War about 300 years earlier.

GUNDAM GUSION

A heavily armored Gundam Frame mobile suit which has been tuned for high output. Its main weapons are a machine gun and a huge hammer.

GUNDAM GUSION REBAKE

After being captured from Brewers, the Gusion was rebuilt by Turbines for Akihiro’s use. Its form has been greatly changed by the use of spare Barbatos armor. The Alaya-Vijnana system of a captured Man Rodi has also been transplanted into this machine. Equipped with high-sensitivity sensors in its head, it can change into aiming mode to provide long-range support.

GUNDAM GUSION REBAKE FULL CITY

Like the Barbatos, the Gusion Rebake has also been upgraded by Teiwaz into a new form after sustaining severe damage. It retains its previous gimmicks of high-sensitivity camera sensors in the head for long-range precision fire and a “face open” mode for close-range use, and new armament has also been added, including weapons more specialized for close combat.

GUNDAM KIMARIS

A Gundam Frame mobile suit whose main weapon is a lance. It is also equipped with internal weapons in its shoulders, and a folding blade on its waist armor.

What exactly is there to discuss, if I may? Arguements on science fiction technology are not really the smartest thing you can do before heading to bed.

Because imaginary tech is interesting?

I'm intrigued by the Kimaris' second form which involves deploying horse-legs with thrusters on the bottom of the hooves for a hover mode, which allows it unmatched aerial mobility (mobile suits can't fly without the use of another vehicle, if I remember correctly), so it seems quite odd for Gaelio to have thrown the advantage of being untouchable away for a lance. It seems it would have made more sense for him to strafe around his target at high speed while shooting at said target with a ranged weapon, though given the existence of nanolaminate armor, a melee weapon may be necessary. In that case, I suppose Gaelio's strategy was to use the sheer force of his speed combined with his mass and penetrating lance to destroy his foes?

Honestly what Gaelio did makes no sense if he wanted to win. That would have been the smart move to do but instead he opted for CQC with his lance either because it would be more "honorable" or because he acts at the whim of the show writers(and the show writters probably thought fighting with a lance and putting yourself in more danger than is necessary is cool). The latter is more likely tbh. BTW what ever happened to the Kimaris anyway? I forget if it was destroyed with Gaelio in it or something else entirely. S1 did air a long time ago.
