Yes I know what a cassette tape is, when I was a kid I used to take the brown thing out and then get it back inside by turning those wheel-like things.

Why were you using one in 2000 though? By that point even the smaller floppy disks were on their death bed as CDs were taking over and flash drives were the hot new thing on the horizon.

Because I live in a shitty undeveloped country, besides I couldn't afford a better computer than a 386 back then. And I even got that one from my cousin who had bought a better one. I didn't get a modern computer until 2004.

I respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.

I'm pretty sure they all know what a cassette tape is, even though some of them may have never used it.

Someone mentioned floppy disks. I'm sure those born after 2000 have heard of those, too. But have they heard of 5.25 disks? I remember using one of these puppies back in 2000. (Man, I feel old now.)

I'll one up you with 8" floppies. Granted I've never actually seen one of these before- but lawd help that's a lot of plastic.

How to fix the review section, detailed here

The average reader (HS level) reads at about 200 WPM. So a 500-800 word review should take 3-5 minutes to read. That's an acceptable length for something you're interested in spending 25 minutes to 4.5 hours of your life watching.

Oh, and ANN requires any and all reviews to be 800-1200 words, no matter the length of the show.

Yes — and I still regularly purchase and play cassettes, vinyl and VHS.

I think anyone born before the 2010's will at least know what it is.

dude. theres still many lables putting out cassettes these days. i have a fiew, but dont play them anymore (or buy). they just break to easily. i'd rather spend my money on records.
sadly there are a fiew albums i would love to have, that really only exist on tape..

How do you find places that sell vinyl that isn't just classic stuff from the past? It's a pretty niche thing still even though it's kinda popular. I used to own a record player in my house but I thinnk my dad tossed it after he converted his old records to digital. They still have a lot of old records I think in boxes somewhere I might go through so I can start my own collection some day.

like @kuuderu said, its very easy to find online, and every city has some recordshops.
i mostly buy on Discogs.com cause its hard to find a lot of the records i want in other places, newly released records i mostly buy straight from the lable.
vinyl is very populair these days, so many artist and bands release records again nowadays. the reason i got into record collecting was because some bands i listened to only released vinyl. nowadays half the bands i listen to only release vinyl, but i like it.
only bad thing is the obsession with double vinyl that i keep seeing. double vinyl is fine when its like a 1.5 hour doom metal album, but all these rereleases of old thrash metal albums on double vinyl are annoying.. only having like 8 minutes of music per side..

@gizter13
@kuuderu

Yeah I knew it would be online but I figured I'd stumble up on stuff I was unaware of easier in a physical store. I'm not in a major city and low on cash without anything to play it on so I guess I will put it on hold for now. And that double vinyl sounds retarded.

I grew up with cassette tapes, and continued to use them throughout the CD age. Portable CD players skipped and ate through batteries like no one's business, my tape Walkman was always a better option. Plus, many CDs usually only had a couple songs I actually wanted to listen to. So, I ended up making myself lots of mix tapes.

Even as recently as 2000-2001, I would connect my computer to my stereo and record MP3s onto tapes for use in my Walkman and in my car. (My Rio PMP300, and later my Minidisc player finally put an end to that.)

Sure, I know what a cassette is; grew up when they were "the" thing before CDs took over the spot. Pretty sure I still have a few still lying around the place.

I remember I used to like taking out all the film in it just because of how shiny it was and breaking cassette tapes a lot as a child.

Cassette tapes are like a high tech version of betamax right?
