Yup. All things jazz, fusion, and any variations. Discuss your favorite artists/groups, share any new discoveries you've found, introduce yourself to jazz; bathe in the beauty that is jazz.

Note: I know I don't really need to say it; we're chill people for the most part, but don't come here with some BS elitist attitude. This is a chill environment. Don't bash, don't be a dick. It's music; it's all subjective.

Some of my favorites include:
Pat Metheny/Pat Metheny Group
Chick Corea/Gary Burton
Warren Wolf
Robert Glasper Experiment
Kurt Rosenwinkle
Omer Avital
Sun Ra
Derek Hodge
Thundercat
Hiatus Kaiyote
And of course, the old chodes: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Buddy Rich, The Rat Pack

Have fun.

Pat Metheny Group is good, actually found them through 80s weather channel videos lol

I suck with jazz sub-genres so I'll just post things that come to mind and not sort them (some are jazz influenced electronica)

Also there's lots of good vaporwave that uses jazz as the source material but that might be getting off topic

Good stuff guys.
By the way Shimapan, if you haven't already, check out Sun Ra's stuff for some sweet noise-jazz, specifically Space is the Place. Also check out the movie of the same name if you have some time to kill. It's an experience man, let me tell you lol.

Yeah, man. Soil & "Pimp" is the shit !
Love them since my high school days, their music is so tight.

Japan has a nice jazz scene, I also love Indigo Jam Unit or Sleep Walker, for example.

Yeah, Mingus is awesome.
I played a jazz gig yesterday (with the jazz class of the conservatory where I study) and from him, we played Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, absolutely adore this tune.

We also played Bill Evans Waltz for Debby. All the pianists I know love this standard.

By the way, great list OP !
Glad to see some modern jazz artist in your list, today's jazz is so good.
Since you mention Robert Glasper Experiment, I think you should also check out his jazz trio (Robert Glasper Trio), some very nice stuff to listen.
And since you also have Hiatus Kaiyote and Thundercat, you should absolutely listen to Snarky Puppy. They're at the same level (ie. the top !) of the other bands in your list. I think you'll love these guys.
(with based Cory Henry on the keyboards, damn)

Oh, and if anyone else is into Coltrane, you have to check out Kamasi Washington's first album (released this year), "The Epic". What can I say about it, the title already say it all.

(Those chords are so McCoy Tyner-ish <3)

Other of my faourites include Roy Hargrove, Hiromi, Mehliana (and Brad Mehldau), Esperanza Spalding, Tigran Hamasyan, Jaga Jazzist, George Duke, Joe Henderson, Jean-Luc Ponty, Bob James, Don Friedman, etc.
(name-dropping, name-dropping...)

There is so much interesting to listen, jazz is so Buddy rich !
At the moment, I'm listening to Chick Corea, and dude, it's worth it.

(I wish I could play like that)

By the way, other bossa nova fan(s) around here ?

(So lovely)

Yeah man, the new stuff is too good to pass up.
I've got pretty much everything from Robert Glasper. d:
I recently discovered Snarky Puppy, and I've been getting in to them. Pretty
jammin' stuff man.

I've been in love with this for a while. They sampled Charles Mingus' Moanin and it mixes so well.

technically chill trumpet but it's good

Oh, good to know.
One of my favorite by him is this very dreamy track :

Love his chords progression, really soulful.

Yeah, "pretty jammin' stuff" indeed. =)
Saw them last year in the Parc floral de Paris, it was just mindblowing.

Wow, great. I didn't know this track, so thanks a lot !

Although I listened to a lot of Lupin III albums, I didn't know this one (and, of course, it's really good) !
Stan Getz is a master, love his sound, and his recordings of Tom Jobim's work.
Personally, I've been introduced to bossa with these two tracks (these standards are still a part of my favorites today).

I love me some Latin jazz, and it's probably one of my favorite jazz sub-genres. I've been meaning to expand my bossa nova library though. I mostly have just Stan Getz and some jams from studio artist collaborations. Throw some suggestions out there.

By the way, thanks for the sweet tracks you're all posting. More stuff to jam to!

Thanks, dude, this track is so chill and sexy. Love the chords on the rhodes, it caught me off guard. Also, really like the vibraphone jazz, such a deep sound.

It kind of reminds me some Pretz stuff :

It also reminds me a track from a Ridge Racers game.

Hmm, I think you can listen to anything by Tom Jobim. Really, this guy is a killer, with a wonderful sense of harmony.

Thanks for the suggestion and excellent tracks, man. More artists to explore.
I especially love that Ridge Racers tune. Sweet, well placed effects, the BASS, and a fast paced beat that's somehow incredibly laid back. Is the rest of the soundtrack worth checking out?
