It's amount of recommendations posted that matters. The more people claim that fans of x will like y, the higher in the recommendations list it will be placed.

Recommendations are coming form other users.
this. also there is option for report trolling recomendation. if it's bad recomendation, it's the recomender wrong not mal site. mal site have good system recomendation thet allow you sea why they recomended it and how many people agree with it. it's just you that never read and learn something.

I'm writing to inform you that one of your recommendations has been removed.
As stated here in the Recommendation Guidelines, recommendations should contain persuasive arguments based on opinion and not solely on fact. Unfortunately, listing keywords/genres/tropes/general statements does not fall under "persuasive arguments."
Thank you for helping to keep MAL's recommendation scene alive and well.

Onna Kyoushi Reika -> Dorei Onna Kyoushi Mashou no Curriculum
Recommendation Text
Same artist and basically very similar plot with a different teacher that looks very similar.
Basically "Dorei Onna Kyoushi Mashou no Curriculum" is a more expanded idea with slightly different approach of the work he did with "Onna Kyoushi Reika".

Wait? Did you just say the recommendation shouldn't be based on facts? So MAL doesn't like facts? And what is persuasive argument? Arguments are persuasive because of the facts they state aren't they?
As i say in the recommendation. The artist is the same, the story is very similar, even the main looks like the same. As i said it seems like the same work with a slightly different angle. What else could you possibly want for it to be persuasive?
You couldn't find more similar works even if you tried. It's ridiculous to think such recommendation can't stay up there. If same artwork, similar storyline and characters aren't persuasive then what hell is left to make it persuasive?

Hi Monad,
Recommendations should NOT:
- be based solely on information already available on the anime/manga page. This includes:
- genres
- producers/directors/mangaka/magazine/VAs
- score/popularity (as these are subject to change)
- relations
As the bulk of your recommendation relies heavily on already available information, it is not a valid recommendation. As stated, persuasive arguments generated from opinions are what the recommendation section is there for. If a user wishes to see more work by a certain creator in a similar style, they can easily browse what other projects said creator has previously worked on. Otherwise, the recommendation section for any given series runs the risk of being turned into another form of 'this creators previous works' or 'these are of the same genre'. Information that can be easily obtained and is generally on display for all to see.
Hope this helps Monad, have a lovely day.

So let me get this.
-Genres: We can't recommend something because it is similar genre.(you would expect that a similar enough work to be recommenced will probably be of similar genre. Actually what makes a lousy recommendation is suggesting a silly moe comedy on a mature mystery thriller entry just because they are both based on mafia, or an RPG game or something. A work with the same feeling of mystery and intensity is a lot more worthy recommendation than some that feels very different and is only based on superficial things around them. Not being able to recommend something because the genre is the same makes no sense)
-Producers/directors/mangaka/magazine/VAs:We can't recommend something based on the style of people that work on it. Like a similar directing style, or storyline from the scriptwriter etc, or storyline, art and characters(like in my case) from the mangaka.
- Relations: We can't recommend something that is in any way related to that work.(if this isn't vague as hell i don't know what is. You can pretty much put everything here. Well they are all animation from Japan so they are all related right? Let's just not put anything then. This is not a rule. This is a free pass to reject or allow whatever anyone pleases and always have an excuse.)
So basically we can't recommend similar works. The more similar something it is then the more we shouldn't recommend it.
Nice work there. So basically anyone who saw/read anything and is looking for something similar shouldn't look in the recommendations sector. Which basically defeats all purpose of having a recommendation sector. Sorry but i have to ask. Were drugs involved while making this rules?
Where is the sense in any of this?
Saying the user can just search for the works of the mangaka isn't a valid argument ether. Just because a mangaka made something it doesn't mean he can't make something very different. Randomly picking a work from the same guy won't necessary give the user what he was looking for, the same goes for genre. I didn't recommend that work because is just a work from the same guy. Is a work with extreme similarities to his other work, from characters to setting, to atmosphere, to art, to story.
Your explanation would only have been valid if the only thing i said about it was that is the same guy making it. But i didn't. I said that the plot is similar that the main is also pretty much the same thing and that the whole work seems like a retelling with slight changes.
What kind of logic stops an extremely similar work from being recommenced because it is somehow related is really beyond me.
Yeah lets not recommend any hentai in hentai works or a comedy work to a comedy anime because they are the same genre . Sense?
I'm certain that someone who saw/read something and enjoyed it, doesn't want a recommendation that has any of the people making what he just enjoyed involved, the genre being the same at all and therefore having any similar atmosphere and doesn't want it to be in any way or form related(therefore having any similar elements) to the work he just enjoyed at all.
Yeah, i don't think you have to be a genius to see that something isn't quite right here.
I think you mods and the admins need to sit around and think this rules and how they work etc again and find a better way to handle the whole recommendation thing because it seems that right now it just doesn't work in any sensible way.
Hate to tell you, the mod was correct. A show does not become good just because a director did it, a show is not good just because of its genre, a show is not good just because the main characters are siblings.
As the Mod said, any person if they like a director can easily find all the works the director did by clicking on a link, no one needs you to say "oh x director did it". Same with genre. No one needs you to repeat it.

I've never submitted a review, but I do write reviews, and put them in my blog, because I was always afraid something would go wrong, and that they wouldn't be uploaded anyway.
