Should we add a quiz to rate anime?

To prevent bots from rating and trolls from rating, why don't we
have a system that forces people to answer a couple questions about the anime that they are rating. Really simple questions explained from the 1st episode or so but not too easy.

Discuss. '
Is this where you live?

No, because I don't want to fill out a quiz every time I rate an anime. Also, people who are adding stuff they watched long ago to their lists probably wouldn't remember the answers to the questions.

Not to mention that trolls would still just watch the first episode and then rate it..

If an anime is popular or not, it will take more than a few bots to change the rank.

YUP, Explain the entropy before rating Madoka, just because MAL said so, please.
It is anime rating not some kind of science.

Do you guys not know what captcha is?
I don't agree with this though, if you want to change the system make it so you only have enter a captcha if you rate too many shows in a certain period of time.

There are several problems with this, to list a few of them:

- Someone needs to make all these questions; it's a huge amount of work.
- Forcing people to answer questions just because a small amount of users is creating troll accounts is a bit too much.
- If it's not just a simple answer then it will be very frustrating for people if their answer isn't accepted (even if it's technically correct, but just doesn't match with the exact answer).
- You need to make sure that everyone can answer these questions, or people won't be able to rate an anime. But what if someone just starts making an account and wants to add things they've watched 5 years ago? Many people forget things easily, not just small details, even entire plots.
- People who create rating troll accounts usually have seen the anime... at least those who rate something with 10. And people who rate something with 1 probably have seen at least part of the series as well, otherwise they probably wouldn't even bother trying to downrate it.
- Captcha isn't helpful either. People who just start making their list will be forced to enter something in a captcha, while many rating trolls only rate 2-3 shows.

We're currently thinking about how to deal with rating trolls more efficiently. Until then if you find rating trolls please report them here.

You can also make it so if someone gives too many 10/1s in a row or only gives 10/1s to be put on a list for mods to review automatically or make them enter a captcha or something, various solutions to troll accounts.

It may work in some cases, but bot accounts usually just rate only few anime

But at that point there's nothing you can do because that might be a legit account, accounts reviewers could be set in place and be notified of any possible bot accounts, even if they only rated 3 entries otherwise you're really never going to stop bots.

Insead of banning disqualification from ratings seems like much better idea.
Like rating stuff in a retarded way? Fine, do what you want - but your scores won't be counted.

What is the wrong way to rate? I guess something that is far from normal distribution.

Err... no? Just because someone rate something much lower/higher from average it doesn't mean he's trolling.
Probably he just really likes/dislikes that anime.

And where did I say anything about rating stuff higher or lower?

Another similar option would be to disable the ratings of people with less than x entries rated and after x if they only gave 10s or 1s then mods are notified and the account is taken care of.

Distribution. Like only 10s and 1s. Ideally, it should be normal distribution or something close to it

Yeah, but those are extreme examples. It's hard to say what you consider "normal distribution". Many ppl use his own rating system and I wouldn't be surprized if someone only rate 1-5 or 6-10. Or usually rate them 5-6 only the real masterpieces get 10 and trashes 1. There could be other more extreme lists too. Also what you mean by "too far from normal"? If the normal lets say is 8 then those who usually give 4-5 should not be counted? But this not mean their score not should be counted to the average.

Its a good idea, but nobody is going to want to do this for every anime/manga/novel.
