You know the feeling when you see a person walking down the sidewalk towards you? I hate it that's why I always have my headset on.

Anyways what are your feelings towards it? please share and discuss!

It depends on how small the side walk/pavement/food-walk is and whether I'm about to cross the street or not.
If I don't plan to cross the street and it's big enough, I simply pass by.
If I don't plan to cross the street and it's too small, I either take a step on the street and go back after passing or let the other person do it.
And if I plan to cross the street, I just do it at that time.

Hope they move out of my way so I don't have to move to the left/right to avoid bumping into them.

You know, it could be worse, like others that cross the street when they see you walking on the same side of the street.

This literally happened to me a few times

but why ;_;

I usually stare at them in the eyes with a hoodie on unless they're relatively old.
Staring people straight in the eyes is a true battle of toughness, mental strength and courage.

Every day I walk past 20 or so people on the side walk. (Not 20 people in a crowd like one person every few minutes or so)

I live in England so I'm a fast walker. London is an annoying place to work because it's so busy. You're trying to get somewhere and people are sleeping.

I usually anticipate the right moment to smile at an oncoming person and say hello to them. Usually I'll wait until I get closer to them or they make eye contact with me so that we don't have to exchange greetings from a distance.

Here i thought i was the only one who acted that way.
Not everyone walking on the sidewalks a bad person.
Now, if there were a group of black people or mexicans mobbing down the sidewalk, that would be a different story.

I just keep walking, even if it's a group of people on the side of the street, I walk right through them, not going to let something like that intimidate me. But then there are times where I would say good morning/evening/etc. to some people.

For the past couple months I've been going on multiple walks a day so I'm encountering this scenario pretty much daily. I don't listen to music or anything when I walk though so there's always that "Should I say something?" conflict. I never really do but I'll usually reply back if someone says something to me, though not always. The worst is when they have dogs with them though. I've deliberately gone out of my way to avoid people with dogs at least a dozen times in the last couple months, rather annoying.

While my neighbor and I were walking somewhere, this one guy walked by us and noticeably avoided eye contact.
My neighbor said, "I don't know why people avoid eye contact. Humans are social creatures, why wouldn't you want to make that connection to just maybe say 'hi' for a second?"

I tried to explain that not everyone is the same, and some people haven't prepared themselves for too much contact for the day, causing them to shy away. Others just don't want to infect people with their crappy moods. There are many reasons.
"People like that don't exist," she replied.
So there we go; I don't exist.
