After episode 2, some people have wondered about the existence of the second version of the enigma of Oedipus.

In fact, the second version actually exists:

The Riddle of Oedipus
Athenaeus, Deipnosophistae 10.456b
"There walks on land a creature of two feet, of four feet, and of three; it has one voice, but sole among animals that grow upon land or in the sea, it can change its nature; nay, when it walks propped on most feet, then is the speed of its limbs less than it has ever been before."

The creators here have shown their work, it seems like. The more I research, the more impressive this anime is.
"Though mountains crack, and ice will thaw

Though walls will fall, to tooth and claw

Though stars will fade, and shadow spread

On the heights we stood, with iron red.

And as they died, they killed the dead.

There has always been controversy surrounding how to translate and in what order to translate the numbers in the riddle. Sophocles wrote the numbers using the nominative/accusative case; and thus it was difficult to put together the riddle in an accurate way even for the interpreter. It was at the interpreter's discretion as to how to organize ( as it is in most cases with interpreting ancient Greek poetry ) the text. Thus there are not only two ways to interpret the riddle, but many more. As an example, I translated the entirety of Antigone from ancient Greek to English and it required similar vigor to organize and interpret Sophocles' language. His linguistic style is littered with riddles, plus the ancient Greek language is a riddle in that of itself.

[sarcasm] It meant that he became a beast or animal. Most animals are fish as we know, so obviously they have 6 legs. I hope this cleared things up for you. [/sarcasm]
I didn't come here to play, I came to win. Now lets play.

This would've been heaps funnier without the sarcasm tags.

Sorry, most my friends can't detect my sarcasm through text, or in real life either, so it became a habit of telling them when I'm being sarcastic.

A shame really, cause you're pretty good at it.

There's a website called Wikipedia. It has information from all over the world in a neat little database. No joke. You look for it with a website called google (or bing if you're some kind of weirdo.) you can access google by using a thing called a internet browser, like Firefox or Google chrome. You have to get access to a computer first though, or else you won't be able to use a browser

Perhaps I did not made myself clear enough. I am fully aware of how to use Wikipedia but I was just wondered about if there were other sources/sites the OP might have found to the one in the spoiler when looking up this particular topic. Therefore, I wanted to ask his opinion, deciding whether or not those sources were better and reasonable.

is it just me or was the answer to this riddle really contrived? although the 2nd version of the riddle exists there was nothing to indicate that that was the right number order. or am i missing something?

You do realize that the quote you provided said nothing about man is a beast when on four legs, so the questioner's puzzlement was perfectly valid, your sarcasm somewhat ironic.

The quote says that man is an animal regardless of the number of legs it uses, the emphasis is that man can change its form (walking on 2, 3 or 4 legs) and that unlike all land animals (including apes) it is faster when in moves on 2 than on 3 or 4.

So maybe the problem isn't with your sarcasm, but since you use sarcasm at the wrong time and place it comes off as you sounding peeved.

Just a thought.
