DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Found this episode most interesting as the "Dirty Pair"/ Yuri and Kei start off their mission by escorting a in Tokyo during the 1990s only to find... Loved the plot in this episode and the cliffhanger was most amusing, can't wait for the next episode ^^ |

| I like the '1990s Japan theme park' as a science fiction concept, though for greater culture/technological shock (and style), 1960s Japan would have a superior choice for a '20th century experience' (assuming we didn't want to acknowledge the even more different pre-WWII world). Nowadays, a 1990s theme park doesn't seem so far fetch since we're now twenty years past the end of the 1990s and riding a mild wave of nostalgia for the 80s-90s era in the form of interest in the technology of that era. As science fiction, I think it offers great opportunity to use the (then) contemporary world as a way to introduce ideas about the viewer's present, as well as pleasntly humorous. However, iirc Dirty Pair Flash is mostly using to poke fun at anime cliches. This was a pretty good first episode, packing a lot in. |
