When you've lived here for long enough, the next thing you'll get used to hearing is a Dodge Charger SXT sitting on 20" Forgiato's blasting the shit out of every Gucci Mane CD out there, or any other gaudy rapper of your choosing. And for the record, SXT isn't synonymous for fast. It just means you couldn't be bothered to go for the R/T, the Daytona, the Super Bee, or the SRT8, all four of which have the V-8 engine. You probably bought an SXT so you could put a subwoofer in the back and give us the impression that there is a swarm of angry bees in your trunk every time you're bumping your earsores. Yes, I do like music written/performed in the English language. But I'm old-fashioned. I like older bands/acts a lot better. The Who, Rage Against the Machine, Dire Straits, etc. I do have some of the bands you've listed in your favorites on my playlist. In fact, how could I not recognize them, some of them take the stage at the Vans Warped Tour every year. That's one thing about music here that I do like, the sheer diversity of rock bands. And when it comes to rap, I'm still old-fashioned. So let's get it out of the way. Run-D.M.C. isn't that good. But the Beastie Boys were. Something more modern, I'd opt for Lupe Fiasco, Chiddy Bang, probably Macklemore, and the way Big Sean (yes, Big Sean) has been rapping these days, I'm beginning to take note of his work. But otherwise, Western music in my opinion is at a landslide and some of the better artists are getting swept away by it as well. It's such a shame seeing so many talented artists get stuck in the back because the idiots said, "more Summertime Sadness, more Gucci Mane, more Waka Flocka Flame," you get the point. However, if I could pinpoint a genre I absolutely like, and I do say I like the most, it's gotta be jazz. It can be as uptempo or as slow as it wants while still maintaining its class. |

| Yeah, Im not a big fan of rap in any language. Some I like though, Like Macklemore and Eminem and Lupe. Ive never heard of Run DMC or Beastie boys, but I like Tupac and Biggie Smalls. I dont know any American older songs. I should look them up. |

| Good choices on the rap. I also listen to British rap as well. Fliptrix and Contact Play come to mind, and I admit I listen to their music way more than I listen to American rap. Run-D.M.C. - It's Tricky. That's probably the most popular song from them. Beastie Boys - Intergalactic. That song was even featured in an episode of Futurama. Tupac and Biggie Smalls need no explanation. They're just great rappers and it's universally recognized. American songs, the older ones? In terms of rock, that's not where it's at. It was with the English bands and Australian bands if you want to count AC/DC. Just thinking of the sheer amount of great songs from great bands coming out from back in that time when you and I probably weren't even born is really mind-blowing in my opinion. Though, I'd hold out on the American songs for now. I can't think of any really notable artists at the moment. ..... Okay, fine. American. Stevie Wonder. There's a good artist. |
