Gonna ask this here...

Has anyone here played the God Eater source material, and is it any good? Comparable to F/SN quality (I doubt it)? I typically don't watch game adaptations before playing them, but the KnK5 director has me hyped.

"Is it good?"... It's alright. Nothing truly exceptional, though.
"Comparable to F/SN quality?"... Not even close.

GE's gameplay was great, though.

If projection is so hard on his body, why is he shown projecting a sword in the OP, and then immediately dispelling it?

1. K&B are safest to project.
2. The longer you hold the projections together, the bigger the damage.
3. A lot of the damage can't be even seen.
4. Shirou gets better with it as he goes along.

Its a monster hunter clone with a typical "oh look monsters, humanity doooooomed~!" type of plot. Nothing exceptional. Which is why it is impossible to understand why they threw the best director at that adaptation instead of fsn"

The story and characters are actually surprisingly good for that type of game, tbh. Second half had some issues, but I can see it become a nice 1-cour anime.

No it isn't. Nasu wrote it, and it's officially part of RN. It's canon. Some people just can't accept it~

If LE isn't canon, neither is any other part of the franchise.

No no no, she didn't use a Command Spell because she didn't have any. You'll recall that Rin was able to make a contract with Saber because she still had Command Spells (in the VN), whereas Shirou's disappeared and he "lost his right to be a Master". Then the Command Spells Rin has in her contract with Saber are the same ones she had with Archer. She used one of those right after summoning him, and another to keep him from killing Shirou, so she only had the one.

The Command Spells disappear and re-appear in the anime though. So alert CookingPriest, this is a legitimate area of criticism of the anime!

Except she has two. And using the last wouldn't make her disappear or sever the contract.

using up your command seals doesnt erase your contract it just means you have no protection from your servant let alone have an absolute command to use. Rin got the remaining unused command seals when she contracted Saber.

Did they not do it because it would just be useless since Shirou's so lacking on mana?

Pretty much, Shirou is unfit to be a master. He's as bad as Shinji when it comes to supplying mana.

Also I don't even know if Shirou is capable of casting any sort of summoning rite.

why would Saber contract with a weaker master in a desperate situation....there was nothing really allowing for it. and as for after in their current situation why not have Saber at the maximum amount of power she could have. you dont have to kill enemy masters and rin and shirou arent gonna turn on each other anytime soon...

The first time Shirou dint make a contract because he wanted, it just sort of happened (with good explanation) He dint even knew how he could Summon a servant. Rin had that knowledged and could make a Contract in a desperate situation

She already used two. Although it's possible that I misunderstand the significance of the final Command Spell, she would still lose her rights as a Master. She does still want to win, after all.
Also, Shirou has also used two Command Spells. Whether they're her's or Shirou's, she still only has one.

dont forget caster still had 2 and rin still had 1 when she lost archer. a HGW is given a total of 21 command seals not including the master command selas from the moderator. assassin's command seals are fake so they dont count towards the original 21. this is why caster got 3 new seals when she stole Saber. if a contract is lost or a master is killed the command seals go back to the grail to be redistributed if a servant makes a new contract.

But it's repeatedly stated that a Master who uses up their Command Spells is no longer a threat because they can't make a new contract.

Rather, you only have the same Command Spells you had before. Caster did not have proper Command Spells, so she got some when she took Saber. When she took Archer, she got none. Also, sometimes the Command Spells disappear altogether, like with UBW Shirou.

The only time extra Command Spells are distributed on a new contract is when a new Master makes a contract for the first time, excepting of course Caster's fake contract.

Command Spells don't refill after a new contract.

That's why Caster's old master made the deal with Lancer's master to kill Caster. To keep from wasting the two remaining CSs he'll need for his newly summoned servant.

Then why did Rin get 3 seals after her contract with Saber? Shouldn't she only get 1 back? Or did the Grail decide to give her 3 because it could (meaning it had extras)?

At least she's shown with 3 in the anime... I don't think the VN even makes specific mention of it?

rin got at least 2 when she contracted saber. caster got 3 when she jacked Saber even though Shirou used all 3 CS's....of course caster forced her master to burn through all 3 before so she could kill him and kluzuki has never once been shown to have any so idk...

Well, I'm not sure Kuzuki can use them. I mean, he's not a magus. Ryuunosuke has Command Spells, but he never uses any. ...Of course, he gets along with his Servant, so...

You keep saying Rin got more when she contracted Saber. Do you have any evidence that that occurred in the VN? Because I'm fairly certain it didn't.

I have to agree, there's no way Rin wouldn't summon Saber to her side if she had all 3 or even 1 CS.

Especially considering

Although I think the anime will probably cover this, or at least I hope so.

well she did still have 1 before she lost archer....so...we can probably take that into account?
remember when caster took saber Shirou even described the feeling of his contract being broken. in the anime they even showed "static" coming off his arm him wincing and a magic crackle to show the contract being broken.
