Pretty good pilot episode, does a pretty good job in introducing you to the series with the worldbuilding and the cast handling a first case.

Fantastic opening song. I vastly prefer it to the tribal music they used in the two movies. Looking forward to future episodes, because this one has more than enough charm to keep me absorbed.

First time trying out a 90s anime series. The difference in storytelling and world/plot-building in huge, and in a good way.

Getting dropped into this whole advanced world is quite a cool thing, body snatchers in the first episode is wild.

It doesn't make sense why Motoko's gun make a metallic sound when she puts it to the guy's head as if it's being cocked, even though it's already cocked and even we hear a further metallic sound. If she is squuezing the trigger it wouldn't make that sound but the producers probably wanted to give it that effect.

@Pizzaluver

Actually she is technically not a cop and breaks the law quite frequently

Excellent music, still a little jarring CGI, plot didn't slow down too much, and the length was good. 7/10 - Good. Wasn't there supposed to be a cute tank bit at the end as well?

A fairly interesting and seemingly self-contained mystery with some political espionage implications. This was a solid re-introduction to the Ghost in the Shell setting if you have seen the 1995 film. It is as visually cool as ever with great cyberpunk weapons and military technology. There are lots of great moments of characters using tech and the audience seeing the UI. Usage of 3D CGI is actually very good in my opinion; it is mostly done for cars and the spider-bot, but looks great especially for 2002 and fits in with the 2D animation. 3D CGI is most prominent in the OP, which also looks quite good. This blending of at the time cutting edge 3D graphics with 2D animation is fitting for a cyberpunk work. It feels notable how Motoko is more sexualized--wearing a corset leotard and thigh-highs. It is a fun design that I've seen many figures of, but it does make her stick out like a sore thumb among the rest of the grounded cast.

Weapons are not cyberpunk at all though, they are very much similar to the weapons we use today.

@JoeChip the bullpup rifles looked close to modern weapons bit with a "sci-fi" quality to their design imo

@gannoncannon55

GITS SAC is a semi-episodic show, which means it's both "mystery of the week type " episodes and overarching plot related episodes,
