| I mean, anime characters don't have always strange/fictionals/embarassing name. I could call my son Edward (from Edward Elric) or Allen (Allen Walker) without ruining his life but also in honour of an anime char I like. I don't think anybody would call a son Vegeta or Gaara, but some names are fit to be a person's. Rei (Ayanami), Lina (Inverse), Kei (Kurono) or Ciel (Panthomhive), for example. |

| I'm not sure what's wrong with Japanese names. If I was a girl, my parents were going to name me Suki. Naming a kid AFTER an anime character would be pretty superficial, but if it's just a pretty name, I don't see the problem. Say I would want to name my daughter Satsuki, it's a very sweet name, and I first heard it through Totoro. That's not too inappropriate now, is it? Though possibly a missed chance for real sentimental value, seeing as naming a child is rather important, I would at least honor loved ones with relative initials or something. |
