| In my early weeb days when I didn't know better, I've read a lot os Shojo and Josei manga, and literally every Shojo manga and a lot of Josei manga had degrees of abusive/dickish/control-freaks/overly-touchy-to-the-level-of-sexual-harassment male characters. And they either were the most popular main love interests or in the top 3. I would never say that this is what girls want from guys IRL, otherwise, I'd be saying that guys love when their love interests constantly abuse them and punch them if they breathed wrong, but I'll for sure say it's a very popular fantasy. We've talked about this before, but "this rough confident rude guy to everyone has a soft spot that he'll only show to me" is a staple of female-geared fiction. Just as "she's a snow queen who's secretly really shy and cute for the one she loves, who is me" is for guys. |
