it was further explained its as she is very tomboyish, her approach was more like a little boy that's teasing/hitting the girl he likes to get her attention. After reading this and following the anime and reading the manga up until current chapters, it really makes a lot of sense, It was just reallllllly poorly explained in the manga/anime it self.

Honestly the manga is a lot better then the first few chapters, I would really like to see it get animated.

The 5 was for the bullying until episode 3. The 3 is because I became so bored watching it and the characters were all terrible, nobody was likeable in any way shape or form and the ending was the epitome of cliché.
