| Babylonia fucking delivers yet another 10/10 episode. This time with an all-2D Tiamat for those who didn't like 3D Tiamat in the previous episode. The Gil and Kingu scene was beautiful. Gil speech to his people was awesome. The entirety of the second half was just plain amazing to witness. Quetz absolutely stole the show this time. Gorgon's return with Prover playing in the bg gave me goosebumps. If they give Tiamat more characterization from the game, Babylonia would seriously be the best adaptation in Fate. Period. | The episode was fuckin' great. They really used the CGI for Tiamat skillfully this time by utilizing shadows to conceal her body during usage of CGI, which consequently made her look menacing as shit while she was just levitatin' around. And Quetz's death scene stole the fucking show 100%. It was cool as all flying fuck, muh sakuga. Ishtar in Babylonia states that there's something odd with Tiamat because that's not how Ishtar remembers Tiamat to be like and Tiamat's Materials state that conversation with Tiamat was impossible in Babylonia, which creates ground for a future plotline that explores why Tiamat in Babylonia was the way she is given the plot sort of provides an *indefinite* status on her that implicates her eventual return (i.e. she's just banished and put back to sleep in the Imaginary Numbers space.. which we're coincidentally exploring during the Lostbelts). There's a lot of mystery surrounding why Tiamat was the way she was during Babylonia in the first place so there's definitely something there that Nasu has an intention to explore in the future. |

A part of why Tiamat acted the way she did is because of her conflicting instincts. Part of her was angry and wanted revenge on the humans that discarded her after she was unneeded to them, and another part was her maternal instincts and her love of humanity as her children. Her motivations in Babylonia seems pretty well explained in Babylonia itself. Also, the title called Femme Fatale was something given by Beast I (Goetia). Goetia successfully saw the true nature of Beast II’s core, so he bestowed a title meant for a Woman of Destiny rather than one meant for a Mother of the Gods (Magna Mater). At the bottom of her hatred towards humanity, there is also joy towards humanity for becoming a mother, as well as love towards humanity, them being the children of her first-generation children. For this reason, Beast II binds herself. A mother’s love is something necessary for growth, but it is something unnecessary for adults. In order for humanity to advance to the next stage, they must overcome the “original woman”. Eh, maybe? The dream sequence in particular only worked because of the exact placement it had in the story, since it also served as foreshadowing for the fact that Gorgon wasn't the real Tiamat. And they somewhat alter the first conflict with Tiamat on the ocean. Not only do they cut out Ishtar's explanation about Tiamat's function as a womb to humanity and how she was abandoned after she served her purpose, they purposely change the battle to be more dynamic than the game and Mashu's subsequent reaction to Tiamat's ''defeat''. In the anime, Tiamat retaliates and Mashu celebrates alongside everyone after ''defeating'' her, but in the game, Mashu notes that Tiamat wasn't retaliating and seemingly taking on their attacks on purpose and may have been sealing herself due to her instincts as a mother which has a more tragic tone to it than he celebrating over Tiamat's supposed ''defeat'' in the anime. I think we're kinda past the point where we can discuss about her ''self-sealing'', but well, I'll see. Either way, I don't mind it to a tremendous degree. I still think Babylonia anime has been doing a magnificent job at adapting the Singularity and while it did shit up some scenes, it also heavily improves on some others (such as Siduri's death being the most notable improvement). Considering what Goetia says about her, there's nothing really strange about the way she acts in Babylonia. I understand that Tiamat's behaviour was strange in Babylonia due to her manifestation as a Beast bringing forth that aspect of her, but I was talking about this: https://www.reddit.com/r/grandorder/comments/f23ss9/potential_part_2_hints_from_babylonia/ Ishtar notes how Tiamat's Summoning could have been a consequence of either Goetia... or the Human Order calling forth Tiamat due to her role as a patron to Humanity. So there's definitely set up there to explore the other aspect of Tiamat when she's brought forth by the Human Order to serve as the patron to Humanity, which could be used to explore Tiamat's characterization more than what we saw in just Babylonia. There's also this segment from her Materials: Something like a personality cannot be confirmed from Tiamat. Whether she has lost her ideals, or whether she has no reason since the beginning, one cannot surmise the reason. Its likely she lost her reason as a result of manifesting as a Beast in the aspect of her that desires vengeance for being abandoned, so it's possible that Tiamat will be re-summoned in Part 2 in her aspect as a Mother of Humanity who wishes to serve as a Patron to Humanity until the very end in order to fight against the Alien God, which will be the aspect of Tiamat as a ''mother that Ishtar knew''. |
| If Gil having so many fans despite being a genocidal asshole rapist man in F/SN wasn't proof enough of why he deserves that Charisma A+, then this episode pretty much sealed the deal with his speech. Tomokazu Seki is a god. I forget, is this where Benkei and Ushi actually die? I thought I remembered him doing something else to stop Ushi. Good-ass fight scenes this episode. Loved the flying battles and how limitless the Lahmu hoard seemed to be. And of course Quetz's sakuga. Also I think Prover is easily in my top 3 favorite Fate EDs. The transition into the song as Gorgon showed up was a really powerful moment. |

That's how you know you got a gem. @AirConditioner Well, Tiamat returning in Part 2 is highly possible, so further information on her and her motivations are more than welcome. I'm not sure how they can incorporate her while leaving her Babylonia characterization intact, but it's Nasu. He'll find a way. |

| Man, there were a great number or things I expected from Prisma Phantasm. The Great Redemption of Shinji Matou was not one of them. The endless orgasms I did expect, however. Also I'm pretty sure the only difference between the Sakura from Dark Sakura's Room and BB is that BB flashes her pantsu more. |

| Oh, I have a lot of trust in Kajiura to deliver amazing music for that scene. My issue would be why the iconic Heaven's Feel tracks in those iconic Heaven's Feel scenes aren't being used. Refusing to do this because Kajiura just won't remix other people's works would be a tad frustrating, to say the least, honestly. Still, I'm open to hearing from Sudou and Kajiura if they say something along the lines of clashing styles and such. But if they're not going to do it, I at least want them to acknowledge it. |
