Why do so many people rate horrible subs and say they are legal? Don't they know they are ripping CR?

As is the case for Sakura Trick and apparently for Monogatari. |

Sakura Trick was released subbed by [Mezashite] for I think more than 8-12 hours at least prior to crunchyroll's airing time. The raw simply came out very quickly and they simply subbed it within 30 minutes to an hour is what I'm assuming. Same goes with Monogatari Series 2nd season. At least everyone should understand that not all fansubbers rip off official releases. That's the part I have a problem about. I won't speak for all fansubbers, but I know there are those out there that actually put work for better translations. Before someone starts saying the subs were ripped, at least compare the subs to confirm it. I know various fansubbers who really but a lot of work into creating better translations because some translations are either too embellished or too literal. Sometimes CR gets it right, but they can really 'derp' most of the time. have you seen fansubs for shows that dont have official subs? they are terrible. heck the steins gate movie had fansubs since like august but me and everyone else waited to watch it till december because of how bad all the subs were. this is because most fansubbers use the official subs as a reference. so no official subs means that the fansubs will suck I said I won't speak for all fansubbers... so I do know that there are fansubs that are really horrid and rushed. Official releases have a lot more stable subs as professionals work on translating it. That I understand, but that doesn't mean all official subs are perfect. If you don't understand this, then you simply just haven't seen enough fansubs. Did you see Little Busters? The translation on CR was too literal, as [Refrain Subs] did a much better job at conveying the translations with their translations for the show. If you think all fansubs 'suck' then go find out more. I've watched both sides for awhile now (not as much on the official side as you though), and I can say for certain some fansubs don't rely on official subs one bit. Some of these fansubbers are actually part of the fan translations for the visual novel community. Don't disregard their translations potential. |

| Continually saying "who cares" in response to the OP is essentially spamming, as it's unrelated to the thread's meaning. He's asking why people claim horrible subs are legal - not asking your opinion on them nor asking to hear you act all edgy about pirating cartoons (you aren't). Nor is he asking if you care about legality or not. Horrible Subs, like all fansub groups - note the 'fan' in fansub - are illegal content distributors. Anyone saying they are legal are the same type of people who seem to think a lot of things are legal just because they don't understand or agree with the laws behind them. |

| Topic Locked I am not certain what there is to discuss here. In theory all fansub groups are kind of illegal because they are translating material that is not there's, without paying for it, and posting for people to download. Unfortunately people can claim whatever they want. Therefore, I do not see any discussion here except for a possible leak for Sakura trick which covered most of page 2. Since there is nothing to discuss. I will lock this topic. |
