Everyone does this to some degree. You are lying to yourselves if you disagree.

Baldur's Gate 3 was incredibly mainstream. It was basically a "normie game". Witcher 3 was one of the best selling games of all time and Cyberpunk 2077 as well, and those are still action RPGs (I guess you could argue 2077 is a "shooter" I still see it as an RPG though). Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and the Sims are 11th, 13th and 17th respectively in best selling games of all time. Cozy games are pretty mainstream, especially among women (though I enjoy them too). Minecraft is #1.....I think you are being very over general with "normie games'. Normie games can in fact be quite diverse.
Plus if you think the people who play games like Squad, Escape from Tarkov, or Football Manager are normies....I got some news for you. The Russians who obsess over CS GO are definitely not normal.

So if I enjoy classical music, and I go to the orchestra, a pretty socially acceptable/classy thing to do I am not a normie? Cool.
thewiru said:TV series? I guess they watch some episodes of The Office every once in a while. They might also watch ultra-popular stuff from NETFLIX or Disney+ if they have those, but they're not likely to get into fandom culture and stuff.
Marvel and Star Wars had big followings, and the fandom for those are about as strong as any IP over here. The fandoms for shows like Supernatural, Game of Thrones, Star Trek etc were very strong, and again a lot of people cosplayed, and got excited over it. Still yeah I mean yeah most people are "normies" by the benefit of not being in their teens/20s for most of their lives. Once you get older, getting heavily invested into these things, beyond a private interest/casual conversation is hard/socially unacceptable. Normies have kids, or have busy jobs, and yeah that limits how overly involved you can be in any hobby. I have felt this to some degree. I don't watch as much as I used to in Uni/HS.

Again, I could talk about normies all day long and I still would have more to say.
Normiedom is a spectrum.
Nah it's pretty yes or no, in regards to being a normal person. People who think they aren't normies, because they are overly into a certain hobby, only demonstrate their own lack of socialization. Everyone has something they obsess over, whether that be sports, knitting, wood working, board games or researching their genealogy.
I am a normie, because I an not anti social a-hole. The fact I have watched obscure mecha anime doesn't mean I am in fact different than anyone else. The people you might find casually into anime, may also be heavily into older films or reading, maybe it's not a media hobby at all, and they just like to fish, cook, puzzles, history (honestly my main hobby way more than anime) or playing the piano or something...again everyone has something they like to focus on.
What makes you not normie, and weird Wiru is all your weird ideas/postings on MAL. It's not how much/what you are watching.
