Mob Psycho 100 demonstrated that even an anime without any pretension can have subtle and original food for thought united with easy entertainment, the major problem with Dandadan, at least in the first season, I don't know in the next season, is that the food for thought is almost inexistent, then has not the eclecticism required to a true masterpiece. Overrated means that there is not a just proportion between quality and valutations, not that an overrated anime is necessarily bad. 1st season of Dandadan is not bad, is just too hyped. It's a contender for sure, but i'd say that honor goes to the totally vacuous Look Back, coincidentally also written by the fraudulent Fujimoto. They need to stop wasting talent adapting his garbage stories.
But One Piece has them both beat when it comes to being the absolute worst. Because unlike the other two, One Piece is downright hideous with no redeeming qualities. Genuinely the worst art ever animated.

| i think the anime industry works different nowdays in the west: the anime is more popular in mainstream so the fandoms and his wish of growing are more big, it's expected. Also in the past, shows like SAO are really mid to me and was popular af in mainstream. Also, fujimoto and all his depravation / insanity are trendy and influential for an entire generation, someone that everyone must accept, it will be one of the most important figures in manga / anime in history for all the things (bad or not) that spreaded in the medium. Arcane isn't anime, is a western european animation but netflix putted the label because people in the west would think it's a kids show if don't have the "anime" label, because anime is ten times more present & diverse than arcane in the internet so this is the sad part for me in the industry: but anyways, things of the life. |

hmmm...i agree on JJK. JJK has been overhyped cause of gojo but when it comes to dandadan and CSM these two do explore newer themes. I'm no fan of dandadan, I sinply like thr animation and the OST but CSM really is a good piece of work. it explores dark themes and has a pathetic protagonist I somehow adore. I don't compare anime with western movies or shows since that's pointless. anime is different and western movies and animated shows are completely different.
your take on demon slayer ep 8 is accurate. that episode was probably one of the most beautifully made anime pieces I've seen. demon slayer overall eats up with animation and music
honestly I'm guessing it's like how trends go viral in general, anime too is being treated the same way. but I feel it's relatively the more younger and newer watchers of anime doing this. the older watchers have developed a taste, they have gone through varied shows, artwork and so on, so their palette is much more wider, whereas the newer ones have only known the fresh shows...with eye catching animation .
I personally feel, anime goes beyond animation.
