Same with Spy x Family, I get it, it's genuinely good, but holy shit THIS is your standard for "masterpiece"? Is the quality of content we currently have across all forms of media so mediocre and shit that when we see something passable it's "good" and when we see something genuinely good it's like the next work of Socrates or episode of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood? Overrating and recency bias were always a problem along with hype and popular shows getting what I like to call the "rating buff" but damn this is a spectacle to watch! If Bocchi were at a 8.2 or something that'd be fine, cause I mean it's a genuinely good show and I think it does deserve some praise (I like the direction the team took with this one to be honest) but paragon level? Nah.

If you oversaturate something, that's a really good way to kill it, because it'll grow very fast, but also die very fast, due to the nature of which these shows are treated more as trends than anything else. I think Bocchi does deserve a dedicated cult following, but when it is treated as the best of the best works this medium has to offer, that's when it begins leaning into more oppressive territory.
