I enjoyed Lonesome Eden a lot. If you don't mind little dialogue, since it rather let's its panels speak.
Gertrude no Recipe was pretty fun.

Otherwise I'll throw in these three links for inspiration, maybe you can find something of interest in there:
Souls
Afterlife
Spirit/s

I read Nageku Shinigami last year for the item and it was short and pretty good: https://myanimelist.net/manga/16715/Nageku_Shinigami

but I'd also highly recommend About Death which is a little longer but definitely worth the read: https://myanimelist.net/manga/50027/About_Death

Thanks for the recommendations, they look very interesting!

Yes, to get to level 2 of one set you first must complete one item on level 1 of that set.
For levels 1,2,3 and 5 you only need to read one item.
For level 4 you choose which subset of 3 items to read. (Items 10,11,12 or 13,14,15)
For level 6 you must read 2 manga of your choice.
For level 7 you must read the specific item.

It should be 10 manga completed per set, with a total of 40 if you are aiming for Vagabond difficulty.

There's also the checkpoint thing, where reaching 2 checkpoints is equivalent to completing 1 set.

I hope I was helpful.

I see, then I don't actually need to read all 21 items of each set in order to complete the challenge. Thanks for explaning!

You only have to pick one item per level (exceptions are lv 4&6). So per complete set you'll have to read 10 titles in total.

You have to complete one item for level 1 before you can advance to level 2. You have to complete one item from level 2, before you can advance to level 3, etc.

Only exceptions are level 4...: You have to pick one of the two minisets and read three titles for all three items here. Then you can advance to level 5.
... and level 6: you can read two titles of your choice, before starting with level 7.

All sets are independent from each other. For Vagabond it will be 4 sets.
But you can also use the checkpoints: For Vagabond that would require you to complete three sets and the other two sets up to and including level 4, each. That way you'd read 42 titles for Vagabond.

Edit: Armandoriel was faster. As mentioned, you'll only end up reading 10 titles per set. :)

Do you by chance put the color-code before the actual link like this?
The Friendly Winter
?
You have to put the color right into the part of the link that you want colored. So
The Friendly Winter
becomes this: The Friendly Winter

Hi, totally new to the challenge and quite fond of the idea, it'll make me read a lot of new things and dig some genres I don't know much about !

However, as I've been reading the rules/FAQ of the challenge for a few minutes, I still can't find the answer to something that's bugging me.
We're asked to submit our completeed manga list at the beginning and end of the challenge. however, if reading an ongoing manga, I tend to mark it as "reading" in my list in order to keep track.
Does that matter ? Or do I have to mark everything I read for the challenge as completed

Sorry for the inconvenience !

Hello! If you use ongoing manga, it's fine to leave them in reading. Please just make note in your form of the most recent chapter that was out/that you caught up with before moving on to the next level as this will help us with inspections.

About favourites - I should choose them by my personal ranking, by score or by adding them in my favs on profile?
And should I screenshoot everything time sensitive? Or only things where you can't see clear date? (like let's say you can see when someone reviewed, so you don't need to put date... but if something is ranked in some way at the beginning of the year, but it's different at the end, then it's better to show how it looked like at the time you listed something on your list?)

Just anything you think of as a favorite of yours, doesn't have to be on the list.
For proof, anything that might change over time.
Even if you can see when someone reviewed, sometimes reviews get buried, so we would appreciate it if you also posted a link to the review.

For clarity's sake: when reading ongoing manga we should essentially consider them "complete" for our challenge once we're caught up even if we decide to read on, right? And we'll just leave a mention of which chapter was the latest one out when we caught up.

So our challenge should (hypothetically) look like this even in, say, mid April (once more chapter of Sousou no Frieren are out), and not be updated with those new chapters:

Edit: This is also a good time to ask whether or not it's annoying/acceptable when I strike out the genres I didn't use, like above.

Yes, you can start with any set.
You can also jump between sets if you want to, so instead of completing one set, then the next, you can complete level 1 of four sets, then level 2, etc.

That's precisely how ongoings should be treated.

I can't speak for all of us, but I appreciate when it is clear which genre was used (by striking out, bolding, so on.)^^

Suiiki - only two volumes long, but it manages to captivate a lot within its limited length.
Lonesome Eden - If you don't mind little dialogue, since it rather let's its panels speak.
Gertrude no Recipe - was pretty fun and a bit of a goofball, but still enjoyable.

Besides those I'll throw in these three links for inspiration, maybe you can find something of interest in there:

Three questions regarding letter of the law on an entry.

4. Read a manga that's been the source of one of your completed anime.

1) If a manga specifically states it's an adaptation of the anime rather than the other way round, can it be used for this entry?
2) If the source of a particular anime is a light novel, is it acceptable to read a manga that was also adapted from the light novel?
3) If no other options are available, is it acceptable to reread a manga that is the source of one of your completed anime?

I have a question concerning level 1 of Fraideii's set:

2. Read a manga with both a child and an adult main character.
What specifies as a child character? In previous MRC's, it was up to 12 years. Now I have read Inari_Konkon_Koi_Iroha where it was stated somewhere that Inari is 13.
Question is: Is Inari Konkon valid as a child character or does it have to be perfectly clear that it concerns a grade schooler kid or something? (Like with the raincoats and yellow hats.) ;)

Edit: to extend upon the question, as one of the posts above gave this manga: Kodomo no Jikan. I checked out the characters, and in the biography of Kokonoe Rin, she is 7, 11 and 16 years old, indicating timeskips. If Inari Konkon isn't valid, would Kodomo no Jikan be valid, despite timeskips?

Hey, there!

From the Challenge List with Explanations: The child has to be 12 years old or younger, and the adult has to be 18 years old or older.

So the first one wouldn't be valid.

However, Kodomo no Jikan would be valid because she's younger than 12 for the majority of the manga.

I must have overlooked the child line in the Challenge List with Explanations. I was sure I read it all. Gotta use cntrl+f better. ;)

Thanks for clarifying. If timeskips would not have been valid, I would have backup options, but now I can safely add it to the plan to read list.

Everything excluding letters, numbers, and punctuation (i.e., ~!@#$%&, etc.). Only symbols not on the keyboard count (i.e., ♪★☆♥△, etc.).

Would Every day is a good day count as a manga about a family?

Here's the synopsis: It's been a year since Toki lost his twin sister in an accident. Toki is still dealing with the pain, but while his parents are away on a trip, he must now also take care of his orphaned nephew, who hasn't spoken a word since losing both of his parents. While Toki struggles to raise a child, his friend's younger brother Chihiro, starts giving a helping hand. How will these three people become a temporary family?
