Well, light novels are called light novels because theyre supposed to be quick reads. The vocabulary isnt too straining and u should be able to get through one in a couple of days. Well it depends on whether you're talking about the official light novels or the amateur translators online.

tbh i really dont recommend light novels unless ur going to read it in japanese. you lose a lot of the context once its in english

the structure isn't what makes them shit, it's the shitty plots, characters, and character development

In that regard, your average LN certainly isn't any worse than your average manga. There's a lot of great LNs too.

The only two light novels I've read are All You Need is Kill and Decapitation: Kubikiri Cycle.

I thought AYNIK was decent and Decapitation was complete and utter garbage. If anyone wants to suggest a LN that is actually great, and available physically in English, I would be happy to hear it.

At first I thought the "most" might actually be accurate (although the percentage is obviously wrong), so long as you ignore the "harem" part (which I didn't even notice on the first read of that post for some reason) and you exclude light novels aimed at girls (which make up about a quarter of volumes and between a third and a half of all series and basically are NEVER this), but then I started thinking about it and realised that there really aren't that many series that do fit, and the ones that do are far from the majority.

Then you put back the LN aimed at girls (as there's no reason to exclude them, especially since many can provide interesting read for bot h sex anyway) and don't ignore the "harem" requirement and there's your resulting % really, not that impressive any more.
You're far better informed than me to know the actual numbers, so if even you while ignoring part of the requirement/of the novel list still don't feel like it's a majority, then it's definitely far away from being one.

International anime community is plagued with massive a priori towards LN and don't even bother to make a bit of research/to see by themselves before talking about it. Typical, but still annoying. :/

How about spice & wolf then? I agree that the two yo uread were nothing great, although I would in reverse put AYNIK below decapitation by a small margin. Maybe because I read them in Japanese though, so I get the writing from NisioisiN, which is quite enjoyable to read and make up partially for the low quality of that story.

This. Also it doesn' t seem to me like he actually read LN before judging, and is talking with a priori rather than with knowledge of this subject .

I can like books aimed at either men or women. Maybe I'm a bit different.
