| It is no secret that Kishimoto-sensei (the writer and illustrator of Naruto), has had his ups and downs in terms of the characters and story decisions he’s made in the manga and anime Naruto. Sometimes the way characters were used could have been better as well, but let’s talk about one of the many things he did right…. and in my humble opinion Gaara vs. Rock Lee is one of them. You may say wait a minute Roy… how does a fight that’s not even half as long as most Naruto fights and also doesn’t even involve any main characters get into everyone’s top lists? Well the answer is simple; this fight tells a story... Rock Lee is an obvious comic relief character made pretty clear by his first appearance. Green jumpsuit and orange leg warmers Rock Lee quickly took over the scenery. Let’s not forget his crush on Sakura (He fights off 3 sound ninja by himself to protect Sakura who he only has a comedic crush on but is willing to put his life on the line for her [Quickly, it’s shown that Rock Lee has an extremely high amount of skill and heart as we see that he cherishes his friends no matter how well he actually knows them. He also holds back some of his strength here, which allows us to see that he’s even stronger than what we’ve seen in this fight]) which added to his comedic tone. His bowl haircut, his eyebrows, his cool guy pose, all of these should just put him on the long list of comedic relief characters, but it didn’t. This all served as a means for us to fall in love with him as a character, not to mention the fact that he straight up whoops Sasuke’s ass for us. Yay! The first time we see Gaara. Other than the fact that Gaara’s skills and super sneaky ninja-ness make Shika, Ino & Choji team (Forest of Death) plus Sasuke and the rest of the Team 7 a little concern about him as an enemy. We’re immediately taught to fear him. We immediately know that he’s the strongest of the genin that we’ve seen so far. His personality is cold, calculating, distant. His appearance is simple with a hint of mystery to it. Red hair, a giant gourd, and darkness under his eyes, he looks like a strong dude. His introduction is short but effective. With his simple, non-comedic introduction and appearance, he is the exact opposite of Rock Lee. The preliminaries. So far the fights have been very “meh” to say the least (although Hinata vs. Neji in my humble opinion carried the preliminaries)... Gaara vs. Rock Lee (Underdog vs Favorite / Rocky vs Apollo). Everyone is expecting Lee to be scared or afraid and instead Lee is excited. Lee isn’t scared and he never has been in all the time we’ve seen him so far. Whether it was professing his overbearing love to Sakura, facing an Uchiha with a Sharingan, or going 1 v 3 in a losing battle he’s shown no fear. His comedic relief attitude is shifted into an attitude of pure confidence. This is when the stories of both of them clash and comes to fruition. Gaara is ready to overwhelm Rock Lee and kill him, while Lee is just excited to finally get to fight. A true clash of characters and personalities. The rest is history… I’m not going to spoil the fighting sequence by having a scene for scene description but if you are a real fan of good fight do yourself a favor and watch it and come with your own conclusion but you can deny that this is a memorable bout in all of anime history. |

| Really hard for me to choose but I loved some of the fights in Fate/Zero and FMA Brotherhood. Both shows had several awesome fights so it's really hard to pick just 1 but both had some fantastic fights. |

| Since the topic asks for the most epic fight, one must start stating what one understands as "epic": - It has to give a sense of greatness, of something massive, heavy-weighted. - Fight must be long and something that was expected to eventually happen, not something random and short. - It must include very intense and tenseful dialogues, coming from characters who explode in anger. - Context of the fight must be suspenseful and must give a sense of "everything is going to s*** if we don't do something". - It must be felt as something extremely energetic. Having said all these, the only fights that come to my mind are: - Goku vs Frieza - Athena's saints against Poseidon - Sailor Moon vs Sailor Galaxia |
| Gotta be Netero vs. Meruem...especially with the whole outcome as well. Epic is the first word that comes to mind when I think about that fight- I think the OST played a huge part in that as well. I would've said but that hasn't been animated yet and prolly won't be for a long time ;-; |

| A lot of people dismiss Naruto, but it honestly has some really nice fights. Rock Lee vs Gaara is my favorite from the entire series, but there are two fights in Shippuden that are both executed better than Lee vs Gaara; Tobi vs Kakashi and Naruto vs Sasuke. Both are masterfully choreographed and packed with impact. Tobi vs Kakashi especially, with the way it's edited. Seriously, go on Youtube and watch either of those 2 fights. That is Pierrot at their best, which unfortunately isn't very often (they're honestly so much better at non-action oriented series). -Note that the Tobi vs Kakashi fight will spoil the identity of Tobi- There's also Nanashi vs Luo-Lang in Stranger: Mukou Hadan. Again, the choreography and the animation, plus the impact of the events of the entire movie having led up to that point is just so amazing. Bonus points for Ihojin no Yaiba, which is an absolutely fantastic soundtrack. There are others; Kenshin vs Shishio and Ippo vs Sendofor example. |

| The sword fight between Heathcliff and Kirito was SOO AWESOME! The fight choreography was some next level stuff. The fight was so intense it had me on the edge of my seat and when he (Kirito) came from the dead I was like that's such a good plot twist. It is objectively the best thing since man learnt how to write! |
