Demon slayer is best in bite sized episodes. Halfway through this movie I lost any interest I had and by the end I couldn't wait for everyone to shut up and the credits to roll. Akaza made the right choice running away from that train wreck and not having to listen to Tanjirou's yapping. Having fewer monologues throughout would have definetely helped things along.

maybe because it's a movie, but this doesn't feel as stretched as the first season. Not as "cheap" as the series. Yet, somehow it feels lamer. It also doesn't have that horror feel like in the series. Good thing about it is... well, it contains a lot of flesh. The 'main' demon is cool and original, but the story itself is uninteresting. I don't know, when I think of a 'train', I somewhat expected something more menacing. And then that upper moon demon came to the screen, felt like a different episode entirely. Nothing interesting I can say about the demon and the fight sequence itself... literally out of nowhere. It doesn't enhance anything whatsoever. Maybe it'll be explained later, but that's not how a movie should work.

I'm worried there'd only be fight and fight in the subsequent seasons, neglecting the originality (read: gimmick) that made the series unique in the first place

Ending totally fucked me up. It had some low points but overall it competes with the Mount Natagumo arc. Honestly what I loved most is the introduced Rengoku, fleshed out his character, and concluded his character arc powerfully all in one film. I don't know how that would've felt in the manga, but as a movie, it felt very cathartic and really drove the ending home.

Also Inosuke is once again the MVP. I love that dude.
