Kudos to kumiko.. Who stayed strong as a leader and a senior..

I know some ppl hate mayu but she doesn't deserve this.. What can she do about it? She doesn't want to become soli and always try to find a way to make kumiko agree but kumiko ask her to do it for the club everytime.. Then, ppl in the comment start to get noisy saying "Mayu is the cause, F her... Blah blah blah"

It pain seeing a character get undeserved hate like this.. Kudos to mayu and kudos to reina for staying true to herself even when she knows her best friend playing..
@Azenime Kumiko is the best. Her generosity is what makes her the best. The people who are hating Mayu are not mature enough. Mayu deserves repsect for being humble and for admiring Kumiko's leadership.

FINALLY AN ANIME THAT DON'T FOLLOW BORING CLICHES AND GOES FOR THE BEST ENDINGS POSSIBLE EVERYTIME.
and I'm loving seeing everyone upset with the results xd

This honestly made me respect it even more... The scene in the top of the mountain struck me so hard.
All the lack of music so far made me appreciate the soli part even more and I can't even imagine how I will be feeling for the nationals performance

you are crazy series compositor
@Ryushindai Kumiko broke me when she started crying. Thinking of all the things Kumiko was being through and everything she did for everyone while holding her own emotions. When she burst into tears I couldn't hold it anymore too... damn man...

As someone who participated in athletics, and lost out a spot in my final competitions final cuts to one of my closest friends (who was an underclassmen), I feel like the emotions of all of these characters are (while a little played up for drama sake), still beautifully done.

Tomoyo Kurosawa as Oumae Kumiko is my favorite seiyuu performance of all time. While the outcome of this episode was disappointing, it shows that not every story gets its full on "happy ending." Reina knowing her sound, and yet still not picking Kumiko shows that the two are finally ready to say goodbye to one another.

Don't get me wrong. I wanted the good ending. But I also cannot blame the writers for going this route at all. Let's just hope they win the gold. Also, I'm 99.9% sure Kumiko is going to become a teacher, and I think these experiences of her final year (including today's episode) have perfectly put her on to that path. The most talented don't always make the best teachers and coaches, but the ones with the most emotional strength do. Kumiko has that strength, and watching her go from an immature childish kid, to this strong president- has been on heck of a ride.

As long as next week isn't an absolute disaster, I'm not really sure what will ever be able to top this as what I like to think of "the best anime I've ever seen." It's not my favorite, probably because at how the show isn't always happy, but I do think it's so beautifully crafted.
@Phoenix_Trite Kumiko gone through so many things. She has done so much for others. Her generosity makes her the best. She deserves all the success she got.

This episode was so emotional man, i cried. I really like the second one and I was right it was from Kumiko.
But Reina I think she regrets man. Fuck this episode was the most emotional in the entire series.
@ggloll yes Kumiko have been through so many things. Done so many things for others while keeping her emotions. But when she couldn't hold her tear any longer she broke me damn man... I couldn't hold my tears...

And yea Reina finally regretted taking Kumiko for granted.
Kumiko deserves better man. She is so generous as compared to Reina.

Kumiko deserves all the success she got.

Honestly, I preferred the second solo to the first one, I even felt more chemistry between them, and yes, I am sad that Kumiko didn't get a solo because it would have been a more beautiful ending to the story, but despite everything, the emotions tugged at my heart.
@Ryner1989 Kumiko have been through so many things. She had done so much for others while keeping her emotions. But when couldn't hold her tears she broke me damn man... she deserved better...

I understand people's frustration, I mean my heart broke for Kumiko but please don't call this bad writing. This season was about growing up, figuring out what kind of person you want to be and fighting for what you believe in, no matter the cost. This outcome makes sense, this is the kind of president Kumiko wanted to be, this is the kind of club she wanted to build and hopefully her decisions will earn them the gold. And the whole thing has been a learning experience for Kumiko and helped her decide her future.
@Johnny-Jay Kumiko have been through so many things. She had done so much for others while keeping her emotions. She didn't deserved to be heart broken like that... I love Mayu on the other hand as well she is so humble.

the best episode of this season if not the best episode of the whole series, from the very start you already know that this episode is going to be big because there's no opening nor ending in this episode but i was not expecting it being Mayu and Kumiko both tied on the soli audition and that also prove asuka right when she said that "i think taki-san and that kid is both stuck" and if he can't decide that which of kumiko and mayu is better that means he is probably struggling and taki sensei said it himself that both of them are competent to do the soli but because kumiko is the president he need the entire band to approve if not well its probably going to be like what happened with yuuko and so he chose to do it like two years ago and let the student decide which is better like what happened with yuuko and i really love what kumiko ask taki sensei to do that is to not let them see who is actually playing because that's what i kinda complain with kaori and reina because there could still be people who choose them not because they're better but because they're the person who they want to play the soli, and i really love taki-sensei's response to kumiko like he is proud and saying he still has a lot to learn and even saying that he is privileged to met student like her that made me really happy, and the characters expression is so good when they announce that kumiko pass the soli audition kumiko's expression was so well it feels like she is genuinely happy from the bottom of her heart but of course they add that mayu also pass the soli audition and kumiko and kanade's expression change back to focus that was quite sad because she was so happy finally she pass but turns out there's still more,

the talk with mayu was also good but honestly i still don't like mayu that much but i love that kumiko realize what she do wrong with mayu and i like that i could understand mayu more and why was all of the thing that kumiko say to her doesn't even get to her and why is she like this its all because her past with her friend and it was a bit like kanade past too to me and that remind me why i think mayu was similer to kanade when she debut and i like how that talk really show kumiko character development

and i am so proud of kumiko in this episode she is the best club president ever and i also feel so bad for her she really wants to do the soli with reina and that last moment of the episode with reina was so heart breaking for me i love how you could really see her emotions starting to change from being tough to slowly her voice started to break yet when that happened she is still talking like she isn't hurt herself but when she remembered what kanade say "that and my frustration are two different thing" thats where she let out her cry and the things she says in that moment is also heart breaking and the voice actor make it EVEN MORE heart breaking and not to mention they're expression which is also heart breaking but seeing them fully letting out they're cry is nice and i love how this episode show that kumiko have chosen her career path and that little interaction with michie-sensei is also nice and wholesome to be honest

and also the moment with kanade was also heart breaking everything in this episode is so heart breaking, kanade crying is not on my bucket list and it was really sad to see kanade who is just wanting to play with her senpai who is in her last year but not only she didn't pass the audition she was also not able to see her senpai perform the soli part that she really wanted to do, i feel so bad for kanade i was so close to crying when kanade approach kumiko with her voice building up her frustration you could hear her frustration just from her voice and the things she is saying about how frustrated she is but because what kumiko say in front of the member she can't do anything else but move on, and when it was announce that mayu was the one who pass her reaction to that was so heart breaking it felt like a flashback to when yuuko was crying because kaori didn't win but this time its kanade crying because kumiko her favorite senpai didn't win

this whole episode is just heart wrenching and there still more things that's so good in this episode like when kumiko went to reina the scene just look at kumiko's phone with reina's text saying im waiting at daikichiyama at the when kumiko arrive she just see reina crying that scene was great i personally love that scene, and of course when kumiko did the little nose thing that reina did back in season one but this time its kumiko doing it to reina not reina doing to kumiko that was sweat, this whole episode is so well animated so well directed and the voice acting is so good like kanade's voice actor amamiya sora was insane too and kumiko and also reina's voice actor chika anzai and kurosawa tomoyo are fantastic you could hear what they are fealing when they were crying just through their voice, we don't really need to talk about animation i mean its kyoto animation they have made masterpieces and this is definitely one of the best one they made, i love this series so much i'm so sad its ending soon (like in 1 episode)

Mayu's intentions were pure and genuine from the start. It was Kumiko in both fear and pride who used the meritocracy to say no. But in the end, Kumiko stands by what she said to Mayu every time, to give it her all- but said this time from the heart.

Expectations subverted. That took balls. Respect. And no I don't mean Mayu being voted, although that too of course caught me fully off-guard. I'm talking about Reina knowing who was who, but still choosing Mayu over Kumiko. Damn. She really stayed true to her promise of staying true to their music. Call it what you want, I'm calling it conviction, even if it means heartbreak. In tears, they both accept the outcome.

Maybe it's not the happy ending everyone wanted; but this one delivered a major punch to the gut. This was a reminder that this ain't no disney movie. This is something more real.
