When I click the + to add one episode on to what I watch (since for some reason taiga seems to sometimes completely miss that I am watching something), it freezes taiga up for a minute and I hear some pretty intense sounds from my HDD while it is frozen. It's fine and updated when it unfreezes, and I don't have to do it that often but still.

I got the "No status defined" error today, fixed it with a reinstall.

I was watching Acchi Kocchi: Place=Princess, when Taiga prompted me to either "Update and set as completed" or "Update episode number from 0 to 1" I chose the latter.

I didn't have it in my list before this so my thinking was that it only updated the episode number without adding a status hence the "no status defined"-message. Just an uneducated guess though, I have no idea how the program actually works.

Taiga's newest update(1.0.282) has made it so when a show is being watched it prompts me to update before the show has ended/closed/moved on to next episode on the playlist.

It happens randomly sometime in the first few minutes for both files that contain and do not contain chapters.

@jjocer:
That's what happens when you enable Skype sharing from Settings → Sharing → Skype. If this feature is enabled, Taiga sets your mood message to something like "Watching: Kill la Kill #23/24" while you're watching that episode. However, to avoid any random application to access your Skype client, Skype first asks you if you're allowing Taiga to do so.

@BaronBadass:
Thanks for the detailed explanation. This should be fixed with the latest update.

@erengy
It is MPC-HC with the Stable Kawaii Codec Pack.

I seemed to have been looking at the changelogs differently. I thought the last update was the 9th but it was in fact the 17th(last thing I watched was on the 15th before using it again on the 21st).

But like here the forums on KCP are clear of any reports of Taiga issues due to the update.

I don't know who's issue it is to fix if MPC-HC is not reading Taiga correctly or vice-verse, or just my own problem since no one else has reported anything.

Do you think a re-install of both would be something I should do before I report back?

I've been crashing every time when i click Scan available episodes. I have never had this problem before because i have never really closed Taiga, so there has been no reason to scan for available episodes. But lately I have been restarting my computer and shutting it down more often so i have been trying to use this option. But every time i use it, it crashes.

What seems to be happening is that it's scanning not only my currently watching, but it's also going through my plan to watch list as well, and that's when it crashes. It's always the same plan to watch anime that it gets stuck on and making it crash, so i delete it from the list, but then it just gets stuck on another anime in my plan to watch list and then crash again. The message that pops up is just "Taiga has stopped working" "Close program".

Is there anyway to make it scan only my currently watching list for new/available episodes? Because following 40+ currently airing anime, and downloading a bunch of new episodes and then not being able to close the program because it will un-highlight what's available is kinda annoying. (I only started using Taiga a couple weeks into the current season, it makes everything so much easier.)

Having it highlight what i haven't watched yet is one of the most handy things about Taiga imo. Is there anyway i can get it to scan without crashing every time on my plan to watch list. I did read somewhere that each anime in my plan to watch list needs to have it's own folder (I don't actually know if this is true or not, just something i read while trying to goggle the problem). But i have 163 at the moment, do i actually need to go and make folders for all of them? Is there not an easier way? Thanks for any help.

(Edit: Thank you, working perfectly.)

@CharlesBarkleton:
The relevant option is at Settings → Recognition → General → List updates → Wait for media player to close, so you should check that out first. When that option is disabled, your list gets updated (or the prompt is displayed) as soon as the Delay time is up. Let me know if the option is enabled but the problem persists.

@Killex:
Sorry, currently there's no option to choose which list statuses are scanned. It'd be fairly easy to add that, but I'd rather try to find the reason it crashes first. I don't think it's because there are no folders set for those anime (although, it's true that each anime having its own subfolder makes things easier and faster for Taiga). I'll take a look at this tomorrow and get back to you. I'll also send you a custom .exe that only scans Currently Watching, as a temporary measure. (Edit: Here's your custom build.)

Lately, like the last month or so..pre and post the latest update, Taiga has been very unresponsive when scrolling or when clicking to update something on my watchlist. For example I'll try to scroll down and after moving down about 5 items it will freeze for a good 5-10 seconds before moving again. Then it will freeze another 10 or so items down before eventually working pretty good for the few seconds that I need it to work. Worked fine the first month I used it. I have Windows 7 64 bit, AMD 1090T 6 core proessor and 8 GBs of RAM, so it shouldnt be an issue with my system, It's a gaming that runs BF4 on max settings at 1080p with over 80 FPS.

This could be related to the issue hogofwar described above in the first post of this page. I have a couple of questions for you, which might help us figure out the reason behind the issue:

1- Does disabling progress bar options (Settings → Application → Anime list) make any difference?
2- Does removing all root folders (Settings → Library → Folders) make any difference?
3- Do you use a custom theme for Taiga and/or Windows?
4- Does it happen only when you're viewing your Anime List? Or does it happen in other places too such as Seasons or Torrents?
5- Does it happen when you switch tabs (Currently Watching, Completed, etc.) too?
6- Does it happen at all tabs, or only at Completed, for instance?
7- Does it happen consistently when some specific anime titles become visible or are redrawn?

I think you were using an older version (most likely v0.9.214) before, and now you've got the latest version, which looks different. v1.0 has just recently come out of its beta testing period, but v0.9 isn't able to automatically update itself to v1.0, which is why you got it only after downloading the new setup file.

I'm not entirely sure how taiga handles recognition but could it be because of a change in the executable name?

Hello. For the last couple of days I've been getting this error when my list tries to update:

HTTP error#12182: An internal response header size limit was exceeded

Any ideas?

Edit: Well I'm not sure what the issue is. I had about 5 episodes queued waiting to be updated and I noticed every time I tried to sync my list it errored out but MAL updated it correctly so I went through and synced, deleted the first episode from the queue, sync, delete next episode, etc until no more episodes left in the queue. It still gives me that error every time I try to sync though and it doesn't seem to sync by itself anymore.

Yeah, that'd do it. Were you the one who sent the relevant pull request? I'll take a look at that tomorrow. (Edit: Done.)

@Sengoku_Nadeko, @fyde90:
Looks like MAL proceeds with Taiga's requests but returns invalid responses, so Taiga thinks they failed. May be related to the recent issues people are having with other applications. Haven't been able to reproduce myself so far, will try again tomorrow.

@Blamoo:
With the latest changes, I believe v1.1 is currently able to parse and use different port numbers. Will try it out and report back afterwards. (Edit: Yep, it works.)

@devileyes:
It is pretty much ready at this point, though I'd like to get more testing done before making a public release. Beta version will be up soon.

I'm having a minor inconvenience bug with Seasons' functionality. I can get the title picture, name of anime, and their producers, but I'm not getting any other info requested through it. It doesn't work with either browser I use after removing all of my extensions and addons for both Firefox and Chrome. Both current and past seasons.

What's not being populated by info is Aired - Episodes - Genres - Score - Popularity.

I'm on version 1.0.282

So far I'm very impressed with the service provided. Keep up the good work!

Sorry to waste your time. Tested it with a buddy and it's my problem, not the program.

Basically, I got hit with the Incapsula block which is causing my issues. Even after I input the Capatcha it still continues to block Taiga being able to login, but not from the browser.

Is there another possible way to get around querying MAL so frequently to trigger their firewall of hate? Or some proxy way where the program communicates with a central server outside of MAL which stores all the metadata for the seasons and stuff outside of our profile's tracking?

There was an unofficial API once, which no longer works. There's now another alternative, but it could very well share the same fate with the previous one. The only part of Taiga that's a bit aggressive is Seasons, where it sends lots of requests in a short time. In v1.1, I've limited simultaneous connections per hostname to 6, which is the same number today's most web browsers use. We'll see if it helps.

Perfect. MPC-HC here, and it also updates as you "page up" to the next chapter. This was the default behavior in 0.9, but I can see why people would want a "delay". Awesome work. Thanks!

So I've been using Taiga for a couple of months now and noticed that when I click "Download Marked Torrents" without" utorrent open, Taiga opens utorrent up for however many torrents I'm are downloading.

For example, if I have 3 marked torrents and I click the button without utorrent open, it'll open 3 separate utorrent instances

I'm using uTorrent 2.2.1 so maybe that's it since it's an old version, but I thought I should let you know anyways.

I have a problem started 2 days ago. I'm using Taiga version 1.0.282 and I faced problems updating my list.

2 days ago I added 10 anime titles and when I hit the sync button, only 4 showed up out of 7 of my last list update on MAL. The bottom 3 were old updates instead.

After that I went to watch an anime and updated it. The new entry was recorded but the old update remained.

http://puu.sh/8HCpf this was my last list history. The bottom 3 were old updates instead of new ones.

http://puu.sh/8KvEr this was my list when I watched an anime and updated it. Look at the list, the old update of Super Sonico which was above the old manga updates I did in feburary on MAL disappeared. Velvet Kiss was supposed to disappear but it didn't.

http://puu.sh/8Kx0O this was my new last list when we did an attempt to trouble shoot it on MAL. I added an anime and weirdly enough if you look closely, previously out of the 4 new anime that was displayed, Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance disappeared and in its place was Himegoto, one of the remaining 6 anime that wasn't displayed at my last list update. Took note also that my list sized increased miraculously from 7 to 8 when I did the trouble shooting on MAL.

http://puu.sh/8Kxmw more trouble shooting ensue and I deleted the stubborn old manga entry that got somehow necro-ed up and re-added them. The update appeared fine since it was done on site.

After that I added 5 anime/manga on MAL directly without using taiga and my last list went without any hitch and could display 9 titles which I have set it in my panel settings. I then deleted them off and Kineta(the admin of MAL) told me it was fine already and I could proceed to update future entries via taiga

Now here's the problem: the old problem I faced 2 days ago came back
http://puu.sh/8KIYu this is how my last list look like when I added 3 anime from taiga and hit the sync button. I added Yama no Susume S1, S2 and OVA to my PTW BUT only the OVA is showed on my last list update. Not only that, my last list update SHRUNK back to 7 titles displayed instead of the supposed 9 that I set. I had no such problem if I don't use taiga so I went to ask Kineta and she told me it's some bug in taiga's API. I posted on the IRC and was directed to post it here and look for erengy.

I hope this bug could be fixed.

If you go take a look at your list, you can see that all three anime (Yama no Susume S1, S2 and OVA) were successfully added to your list, they just didn't show up at My Last List Updates. From how it looks, the problem seems to be with the My Last List Updates section of MAL rather than with Taiga. Still, I'll try to reproduce the issue to be sure.

Well I thought it was MAL problem too but after speaking with the admin Kineta, she said it's Taiga's API problem since my last list doesn't screw up when I update all my progress via MAL site itself. We did the troubleshooting on MAL and realised there's no problem on MAL.

@Aichiro:
Genres, score and popularity are broken due to a recent change on MAL's website. This is fixed in the upcoming version. Producers are different: MAL doesn't provide the information, so Taiga depends on the partial data that I manually provide for Seasons.

@Skrzydlaty:
There's nothing in Taiga that is even remotely related with sound (well, except the easter egg at the About dialog). I doubt Taiga is the culprit here, but the fact that it goes away when you close the application says otherwise. I'd first check the audio settings of your media player, Volume section of ffdshow audio decoder configuration, etc. Another possibility is that you're running another software in the background that's able to change the volume, and it somehow conflicts with Taiga.

no_good_name: that series is still airing, so it is not possible to complete it. The movement is actually on MAL's side. It will allow you to complete the series, but when the maintenance script visits your account it will move it back (because it knows you cannot have watched unaired episodes).

Yes, it wasn't in English. I have reinstalled it, this time in English, and it still doesn't work. I have noticed that when Firefox is open, Taiga seems to freeze for long periods of time; when I mouse over titles on my list, for example, they don't get highlighted, and I can't minimize the window or do anything. It unfreezes for a few seconds every once in a while and then freezes again. Is this supposed to happen?

I see. I think the problem you have is the same as the one described in here. Basically, the more open tabs you have, the more time it takes for Taiga to go through them:

The way streaming media recognition works is expensive in terms of processing. As there's no direct way to detect all open web pages along with their URLs and titles in all browsers, Taiga parses the information that is normally intended for screen readers. It's a slow process and gets slower as there are more objects (tabs, in this case).

v1.1 tries to improve this a bit, but I'm not yet sure if it'll fix the lag entirely.

@makine:
In my experience, that only happens when you have an anime in your history that's somehow not in the local anime database. Clearing your History via Settings → Library → Cache or deleting the history.xml from your user directory could solve the issue. But before that, if you have the time and would like to help, you can send these files to me so I can try to find the cause:

- Taiga\data\db\anime.xml
- Taiga\data\user\makine\anime.xml
- Taiga\data\user\makine\history.xml

(None of these files contain any sensitive information.)

I've reproduced the issue and found the problematic entries in your history:

- Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin - Extra Chorus on 2014-04-03 17:09:06
- Kantoku Fuyuki Todoki on 2014-04-05 18:40:51

For some reason, while these anime appear in your local history, they don't exist in your anime list or the local database, which leads to a crash. Do you happen to remember about the time you added these anime to your list? Could it be that Taiga wasn't closed properly? Or did you modify any .xml files manually afterwards?

@hogofwar, @Quaffle:
Both errors are likely due to bad server configuration on MAL's end. That said, error #12182 might be fixed with the upcoming v1.1. It uses a different HTTP library, which is more tolerant to bad server responses.

If I pause an episode I'm watching and change the window, then one of the update notifications will open. Is there a way to have Taiga only ask if it can update when I've closed the window or stopped the video instead of when it's paused? It gets really annoying when Taiga suddenly takes over if I'm trying to look at something in another window.

http://imgur.com/ujX4Mfm
It also does this if I ignore it asking me to update it, which is also really annoying if there are 5 or 6 back to back asking me the same thing.

May I ask which media player and version (e.g. MPC-HC 1.7.5.146) you're using? Taiga is not able to detect a pause at all, so that must be the media player doing something differently, as if the video has been stopped.
