As a man, there is a simple and childish escapism-based pleasure the first couple of times I watched shows like these (when I was 14-15), but after that why bother.

I really don't find the idea of multiple girls trying to go for the same guy very interesting anymore, it is one thing if it is a love triangle but if the entire show is dedicated to multiple women trying to get with one man (usually with black hair and a plain face) it becomes so thematically stagnant, and also generic, that I usually turn it off after a while if there isn't another major narrative hook.

Also, I am of the opinion that Steins Gate is indeed a Harem. The very premise of it's original source-material, e.g. it's visual novel, is to have multiple girls for the player to interact with, and then go on their routes. Most of the first half (and some of the second half) of the anime is dedicated to Okabe trying to solve problems for various women who are definitely attracted with him. Delving into their individual backstories while they explain how Okabe is significant in their life, it is very Harem-like regardless of how the rest of the show is structured. Sadly, it's harem-like aspects are some of the reasons I didn't rate it higher.

I hate them. Im not just the target for harems. I mean I’m a woman. I cant understand the logic and enjoyment of having these girls fawning over a single boring guy as if he’s the best in world..same logic with reverse harems. I do like reverse harems...just for the eye candy but even that, its not something I would go fawning anymore. I would prefer Josei Hentai at worst

It's the only genre I can't bring myself to enjoy.

Harem, reverse harem, pseudo harem, I just can't enjoy them all.

I'm fine with hentai/yuri/yaoi because those are basically just porn.

I don't like ecchi, but I can still enjoy some.

But harem, I just can't enjoy it in any form.

I haven't seen any harems or reverse harems that I enjoyed. I absolutely hated Nisekoi and I detested Amnesia.

They completely scared me off the harem world forever.

It is ok, as long as the main character and harem girls have likeable personalities.
