| Wasn’t expecting to be returning to Summer 2019 for another rewatch so soon (haven’t even finished the other rewatch in fact lol) but since this is getting a 2nd season this fall by my boys at Gekkou, I figured I would give this a rewatch since it has been such a long time since I originally watched this, being weekly during the season it aired lol. Only thing is, i remember not liking this show that much, I have it at a 6/10 currently which may change by the end, but the main thing i remember not liking about it was the poor backgrounds once we get to the later stuff, but turns out this might be even worse than i remember lol, and this is because of the art and animation, I can respect a non-CGI monster tho. And not only was the art and animation half decent, the episode also seemed to blast through introductions, like the dude is thrown into this world as his OC Kunai and goes from “damn, I can’t get administrator rights” to “hell yeah, I got administrator rights” lol, and the stuff with the village and ring also happened kinda quick, of course it wasn’t so fast you couldn’t keep up or understand what’s happening but it definitely didn’t give you much time to process things. But, despite the negative stuff, I did find this to be a decent first episode, it had some fun moments and I like Kunai as an MC, he’s a bit different than the usual Isekai protagonist, hard drive wipe moment was pretty good during the next time segment lol, and Aku is cute with her being a blonde variant of Rem, which i remember being one of the things that made me pick this show back then. Also I still remember that OP and ED to this day, both are very good, very nostalgic now too, that ED especially got me because it rocks. Hopefully this will manage to be a fun rewatch despite my feelings on the show in 2019, nostalgia will definitely play a role but I will say I can’t see the score going any higher than a 7 lol, we shall see what happens. |
