Until then I thought Kaede was the character with the weakest writing, like she didn't felt real, every interaction she had with her big brother felt like cliché fantasies of the innocent but teasing sister, ect. I still believe that but god, she is the one who made me cry the most for the moment. The entrance scene was just heartbreaking |
| It kinda hurts to say this already, but we’re finally here at the final arc of the season, being Kaede’s, but really it’s on me that I’m saying that already because I kinda blasted through this lol, but with summer season so close I ain’t messing around, gotta get this shit done lol. And I remember how this one goes down pretty well too, but this first episode I didn’t remember quite as well, it was a really good one tho. Yeah it might not look like much to a viewer on the outside, but Kaede making little bits of progress at a time to full on crying when she finally steps outside really goes to show how deep rooted her trauma is, something so simple and easy to most of us got that kind of reaction out of her, it was a really powerful scene and nearly got me to tear up seeing it again. I will say tho, even if I’ve never felt that extremely about stepping outside, Kaede is pretty relatable at the same time, especially the bit about answering the phone, I get a little bit of anxiety even when I know who it is on the other end lol, just interaction in general can be stressful sometimes, I guess that’s just an introvert kinda thing. We also got a bit on Shoko in this one, a shame Sakuta didn’t get to meet her on the beach, but the fact the Shoko we know didn’t send it, and Sakuta dreamed of meeting Shoko again, has me thinking this version of her isn’t real or something, although I gotta wait for the movie for that to be confirmed because I don’t think we get into her mystery in the original season. And lastly, nice moment with Tomoe in this one, she is a great stress reliever for our boy lol, I also wanted to mention every time I see the name of the restaurant they work in, I always want to sing the lyrics to “Bennie and the Jets” by Elton John, even if the spelling is different lol. And we got the final edition of the ED with Kaede this time, damn that focus on her legs before the chorus was something else lol, another great version for sure. |
| Sakuta's tears from Kaede just stepping out of the apartment spoke volumes about him as a brother. Still, you can only imagine what she must've been through for barely being outside to have been a massive achievement for her. |
