Hard Work versus Prodigy; a classic anime trope that has yet to get too cliche.
I am fine with Souma losing to Akira. He can't win all the time, or he wouldn't be a relatable character. And, then the episode goes out of its way to have a post credits scene where we see how expertly Souma is dealing with it, which inspires us all.

as I re-watch this I always feel robbed that Hayama won and not Soma but oh well. it also foreshadows what will happen to Hayama in time.

Damn feels weird seeing Souma lose to a peer. Doujima's explanation was ❄️, it's a threat to himself to make sure he wins😮‍💨. Souma broke his promise to his dad, he lost before he faced him again😔. Damn, Akira really said I am him from now on and you guys shall acknowledge that. Next season are these guys going to be the main squad from now on👀👀. Having a Dad like Souma's dad must be elite. They truly have a wonderful bond. Souma saying my own cooking sounds LIKE A TRAINING ARC, is coming up. No matter what type of show it is training arcs are my favourite.

Had to pause and rewatch HayamaXJun hug scene x >5times hahahahaha.
The only character in the series to get married.
Handsome tanned skin character xD.
Don't mind the large age gap but they make sweet couple.
Souma was calm (as usual) despite the defeat, and funny he had to shout at them both when he's persistently referred to as the "3rd place". xD
How dare you call Souma 3rd place.
Alice being unsupportive partner simply badmouthing Ryo for his defeat.
Leave that girl now, Ryo.

Specialty dish, huh.
Akira Hayama is amazing. Congrats, Hayama. You da guy.

The trio spending time at Hayama's place and Ryo tasting Souma's dish is so fun to watch. Still hasn't moved on from the election.
Souma conversation with Dad over the phone is funny too.

while i wasnt able to guess who won it didnt surprise me at all that it wasnt souma.
thats just kinda how this show is and its to build his character and personality.
i hope this wasnt the last time we see the best girl or alice's mom...

It's better that Souma lost cause he's someone who learn by failing. The more he fights, the stronger he gets. He's like a Saiyan, but in cooking.
