what? Ataru stopping to call a girl for a call?

And asking Lum to come back? Since Lum is looking from above, he seemed too cute to me

That rollerskating sequence with the insert song was awesome. Quintessential 80s.

I love this episode. It's the first time Ataru and Lum acted like an actual couple with their first date and all. And I loved how this almost felt like a normal romcom anime episode, different from all the usual Urusei Yatsura madness. The 80's aesthetics in this episode were on point.

I loved how Ataru treated Lum so well in this episode. Very different from his usual self. It's just so rare. Not to mention, Lum was unbelievably cute in this episode. She looks the most cute when she acts like a human and wears human clothes. And the double date and the roller skating scenes were so good.

I know the ending of this episode was different from the manga counterpart, but this is the type of change that I like seeing. The whole episode was so good.

No matter what people say, director Mamoru Oshii knew what he was doing. He can make some great comedy and also stories that can pull on your heartstrings. Not saying he was perfect, no director is. He had some lows. But his highs were basically the highs of Urusei Yatsura as a whole.

It's a shame that he quit halfway through. I wonder what kind of crazy changes he would've brought to the table if he had been the director of Urusei Yatsura the whole way through.

This is one of my favorite episodes. It's a shame that the Remake will most likely skip the manga chapter this episode was adapting. Even if they kept the dumb ending of the manga, I still would've preferred it over it not being adapted at all. Would've loved seeing more of "human" Lum in the Remake. Huge wasted opportunity.

This feels like one of the first essential episodes in a while. It's probably my favorite so far. It felt very genuine and heartfelt compared to a lot before, and it helps show what makes this show really special imo. It's also always nice when Lum wears real clothes, I prefer them over her actual outfit essentially every time.
